Once again:
This Is Not Me.

I got the lowdown about 2 weeks after it happened that this was fishy because of other things that had happened around this guy recently. Looks like the rumor mill was correct...
A black mark on the profession, for sure. Word is that guy was either in trouble with somebody (like owed money), on drugs, or something else similarly bad.
I don't know what the truth is myself, and hope that it's not the way it looks right now.

As an interesting side note, there's a journal article this month about the suicide rate for veterinarians being 4 times the national average...

Hey Hobbit, since you are here......... I have been wondering about shooting unsupressed pistol and rifle around dogs and if it might damage thier hearing as it does humans. I have a new pup, 14 week old GSD, and want to expose her to the noise so she is not frighten by my hobby. I have done this in the past with other family dogs with good results. As I notice my hearing being affected with age, I am concerned it might damage her hearing if I expose to it or to it too early/too often. Since you are an expert on animals and also enjoy firearms do you have an oppinion or thoughts on this subject.   Thanks Stuart

Sure........

Just kidding.

While we're on the animal questions............  Will anything bad happen if I feed my dog a shot glass of beer?  Its a 30lb cocker mix.  Don't worry It only licked beer off of my finger so far.  Oh, and the floor.

Re: dogs and hearing-
Yes, they do accrue hearing loss over time. A few years ago, there was a minor PR mess when the NRA showed a father/daughter shooting in full safety gear, and a dog in the immediate background with no hearing protection on.
Of course, it was just grandstanding by people with nothing productive to add to society, but there it is...

Re: dogs and beer-
Why am I afraid that if I say no harm will come to your animal, the next  GS Hometown thread topic is going to be "Hobbit made my dog an alcoholic!"?

-Hobbit (Who does not not condone mixing guns, alcohol, and dogs in any way. I swear on my internet liability insurance.)
