I've worn steel toe and composite toe boots for the last four years at work and wondered if there are any cons to wearing them as a deputy?
I can see the Pros fairly easily but don't know if you guys wear them or not and if no, why?
I started wearing them at work and then switched to a duty boot when I joined the State Defense Force (don't get me started on that topic) because the safety toe holds it's shape and looks great shined.

Never used steel toed boots. How do they work for running?

Well, I've worn them for about 4 years and have done a little running in them. Nothing major.

if something very heavy falls on your foot, it can turn the steel insert into a kinda toe Guillotine

Whatever you do, don't waste your money on AIR-TAC boots.  They are a P.O.S.

They wear good, look good, and are quick to put on, but they don't last but about 4 months.

didn't see that issue of Myth Busters, but, they don't appear to be the sharpest knives in the drawer, & I highly doubt any person was willing to be the test case

P. S. my source was the united States Air Force who thought the risks associated with wearing them were outweighed by the routine accidents they prevented...

if fact, so did the united States Army for tank loaders, back when the tank cartridges were all metal
