Mr Pinion has some used AR mags at TGC for $7 per Not bad looking mags. I got a couple. Just FYI |

The Gun Cellar furthermore, allow me to rank the area's best gun shops in order of preference, solely for my own enjoyment. 1. The Gun Cellar - nice staff, good inventory 2. SouthEastern Guns - crappy staff, but nice clean store & inventory 3. JoJo's - chance of getting shot (and/or lung cancer), but decent inventory, main selling point is the pearls that you might come across if you look hard enough or go often enough 4. Mark's Sports - solely for the blue-bloods, but good inventory 5. Academy - generic, yet affective |

My wife may or may not have a relative at TGC. This alleged relative was over for a family get together, and we started talking about his job. I mentioned that I would need to transfer a gun soon, and asked if they did it. Here's how the conversation went: Him: "Yeah, we can do that." Me: "Great! How much is the transfer fee?" Him: "It's just $50.00." Me: "(insert sound of me dropping my teeth)" -Hobbit |

It just never occured to me that TGC stood for The Gun Cellar. I just found out that Walter Craig a Selma company openned up a store in Montgomery called the Sportsman's Warehouse. I am not 100% sure of the name, but it is 1201 N Eastern Blvd. Montgomery. Check them out and give me a report please. |

I guess no matter where you go depends on a few things. I have always had great dealings with the guys at Marks' and at Gun Cellar. I believe the reason why is because I frequent those stores often and they know my face. Now on the other end of the spectrum, I rarely goto Southeastern Guns and I get crappy service with attitude when I do go there (I hear that I am not alone in this respect). I wish the other places would carry ar parts and accessories like Southeastern, but because of their attitude towards me, I will not spend anymore of money there. If you compare prices between the internet dealers and Southeastern, they are pretty close in just about everything if you pay CASH (southteastern guns). Now I understand there is something special about looking, holding, and finger-banging before buying, but if you know what you want ahead of time and don't mind waiting a couple of days, i prefer the internet for my parts, and needs. Now at both Mark's and The Gun Cellar, I have a certain sales staff that I deal with, and I deal only with them. No offense to anyone else, but because of these relationships, I get deals on just about anything I buy. Just my little rant about my experiences... Chris |
I'll check them out Friday. I need to find me some good gun stores in the Gump. |
| I've transferred a few firearms through Southeastern guns in Trussville. They never charge my for transferr. I have bought a good bit of things from them though, Plaza gunworks on Hwy 11 right befroe the turf club charges $25. SE guns has the cheapest prices of guns of anywhere I've looked in central Al. A little high on ammo but the carry a great selection and are a YHM dealer. If you need help talk to Ira he is a gun nut and a great guy. Also a their a RRA dealer. |
BIG +1 on this...spot on! |
Yeah and then they shut down the Selma store, just the one on the boulevard now...Prices sometimes good sometimes not so good. Depends on what you are looking for and who you talk to. |
+1 I also found that the firearms they have in stock are often over-priced but that they are quite reasonable on special orders. I ordered a Freedom Arms 454 Casull from them real cheap. They're also about the only game in town for reloading supplies. But they don't carry pistol bullets (but of coarse they carry pistol cartridges.) They have a good bit of high end stuff. Generally it's worth an occational trip out there to check out what they have. |
