I was at the TFTC range in Camden Tennessee yesterday (Saturday) for most of the day. Measured and laid out the sub gun range area and checked for safe shooting lanes and took a tour of things that have changed. They have purchased more of the surrounding land, a spot that has great future potential by the way.

They have altered the 500 yard shooting position and it is also a great place for spectators to view the night shoot from. From this location you can see the entire range property and the main line view is great. There has been a bit of work on the main line and the grass they planted there is looking great. The fence at the main line has been moved back to accomodate trucks and cars for the main line shooters, no more blocked drive while unloading. The vendor area is about 75 yards from the shooting line and spectator area. The impact area for the main line has had a bit of work and the state forestry division, and the local fire department has a controlled burn set for this week to clear brush. The entire area is a bit wet from the recent rains so we are hoping for dry times over the next two weeks. ATA has a few new target designs and they "may" have them out for us to try out. There a few more mobile homes set up for us to shoot at as well. We are trying to get them to use the car they have,(it runs) tie the steering wheel and let it go round in circles as we shoot it up! I am hoping to see many of you there, I will split my time between the line and the vendor area, we also would like to see MORE VENDORS sign up.

There is one person in the entire County that has objections to this event and he has been very vocal. The Mayor and city council along with the County Commission have ignored him mostly. The response from the city and county leaders has been "Let's erect signs welcoming the machine gunners and shooters around the town and county". The citizens of the area are all interested in our being there so let us not dissappoint them. This event is starting to grow in size and we are expecting it to get much larger in the coming years, so come on down to Tennesse for a bit of fun!

TFTC has a new shoot planned for this summer, there is a suggested time frame of late June. This would be a weekend event and would be in the warmer time of the year and a much less chance of rain as well. This timing should make things better for those that have a hard time getting away from home and work during the Spring and Fall. What do y'all think? Would you come to a summer shoot? That area of Tennessee is beautiful in the summer and there is a lot of great fishing in the area, as well as Nashville to the East and Memphis to the West. There are a number of fishing resorts in the area as this is a big tournament area so fishing is always good. Post here if you would like to see this shoot put on the schedule. I will forward all suggestions to the owners and they will set up an event for all to enjoy.

Thanks for the update, Tony.  I'd be interested in a June shoot.  To be honest, I'm real worried about rain next weekend.  Ross told me last year some areas were very muddy.  June sounds like a much better chance at dry weather.

See you next week.
