| So I finally got back to Indiana after 21yrs of .mil. I signed my offer letter this morning and start work on Monday in Louisville. Living in Salem. Any places around me that anyone would recommend? |

Southern Indiana Pistol and Rifle club in Borden, you drive by it every day on Hwy 60.
They have no cap on the number of members-bad ideal IMO-and they let anyone in, as long as you are a NRA member. You will have to fight the Highpower guys for range time on the rifle side, they seem to have a monopoly on it. Several are nice, the rest can be jerks. Silver Creek Conservation Club has IDPA, USPSA and Steel matches. We are having our monthly steel match today at 5:30. You might drive by it everyday unless you head out Grant Line Road. Silver Creek only accepts new membership apps at the first of the year. IM me your name and email and I can see if there are anymore openings this year. I might be able to squeeze you in. SIPR is handguns, shotguns and rifles SCCC is hanguns, shotguns and rimfire rifles only. |

Thanks Dog, appreciate the info. I'll check with SIPR as soon as possible. I have two boys that like to run through as much .22 as I can find, and I'd like to shoot my AR's every now and then as well. I belong to both. Both have their positives, but I shoot mostly at SCCC. If SCCC would allow centerfire rifles, I would ditch SIPR all together. A buddy and I only goto SIPR when it's very hot or very cold. That way we know that no one will be there. Think about belonging to both. If you do, let me know. |
| I dont know how far you want to travel. But about 36 mins north of Salem around Freetown is South Central Gun Club. They have a website link |

Silver Creek is the one to join if you only join one. You will also meet more multi-discipline shooters there. They also just seemed to be nicer folks I use to go to SIRP in Winter so I would have it to myself. On a cold winter morning t he reverb/echo off the stone ridges surrounding the area were fun to hear. |
| Pretty much what Dog1 said about SIRPC...Just make very sure you check the website often if you plan on going to the range to make sure it's actually available and not being used for a match/match related training. The range runs from 200 out to 500 yards so there is a chance to squeeze in some distance shooting if you plan it out to avoid highpower crowd. Don't take starting and ending times for the scheduled events as the gospel either, I've shown up at times listed for event to be over only to find out that I got to wait an hour or two before the match actually ended. Welcome back. |
