I have been trapping coons and an occasional stray cat lately because my trash cans have been getting hit pretty hard. Last night I put some scraps from a smoked pork shoulder in as bait and this little bandit could not resist it. He was very young. I don't think a mature fox would walk all the way into the back of a live trap this long. They are pretty skiddish and alert. I hope he got a little life lesson from the experience. I would like to see him stay around my area. They are good for controlling mice, moles and such. His coat had a good sheen and his eyes were very clear. He was in real good shape.

We've got one that comes to our home frequently in the middle of the night to eat cat food. Sometimes we'll get up in the middle of the night and look out the front window without turning on any lights, and we'll see it prancing around in the yard by the glow of our security light. There aren't many of them around here, so I let the little guy live. I'd say that it is a little over a year old, as it's too large to have been born this past spring, but too small to be very old. We had one for a pet for almost 13 years, and she was quite the sweetheart.

This one was very gentle. I do not see why anybody would pelt one of these animals. They are definately not common around here but this young one is a positive sign.

They are probably more common than you think.....they do a good job of flying low on the radar.

We see them every year but I would not say they have a large population around here or use the word common to describe the amount of times we see them or hear about sitings.

I seem to see them where I dont see coyotes. Before the local "land barons" started buying up the local  properties that people coyote hunted on we were seeing alot of foxes in my rural neighborhood.

I actually see them more than racoons... we got a few at my unit.

Yeah they have definately become urban. Probably for the easy meal ticket. I am thinking about setting out a live rabbit over night for them. I would not mind at all if they established a den near by. They are beautiful when they mature with the black against the auborn coat. Like M4 said they play alot. They are comical.
