Howdy folks!
Looks like I will soon be joing the Indiana ranks. I'm being placed in Brookston and I'm sure I'll have a bunch of questions. If anyone knows of a place for rent (prefer rural), that'd be great. Also, after reading the IN gun laws list, I'm lead to believe that surpressors are legal to own? Someone please confirm... $200 burning a hole in my pocket! |

Well you’re in luck if you’re looking for someplace rural to rent in Brookston, as Brookston itself is pretty rural.
And a suggestion when you get moved in is to celebrate with a dinner at the Top Notch, the Large Fillet is highly recommended. Also, wildcat valley rifle and pistol club is just down the road from Brookston, it’s expensive, but there are others around that are easier on the pocket book. Linden Conservation club is within 25 miles from there. Welcome to Indiana |

I' going to take a driving tour of Delphi, Battle Ground, Ash Grove, and Brookston today and hopefully I'll find a place to rent. Corporate is footing my hotel bill though, so not too worried.
- Is there an FFL/SOT in the area who can help me through the suppressor process? - Also, I'll be staying in Lafayette for the time being. Anything I should do while I'm there? Anyone wanna grab a beer? - And the top notch has been reccomended to me by others in the area. I'm looking forward to it! |
| Im sure that Applied Ballistics will be along in a few to let you know about class 3 stuff. Good guys and right off 52 behind Newtone fitness. The wildcat is worth the money especially if your going to be here long term. Its only minutes from Brookston. wvrpc.org for a website. Hunters pub is good eating on the southside off 350 and near the indoor pistol range. Southstreet BBQ is a great little spot as well tucked in behind the CVS on the corner of 52 and 26. I just get takeout from there. The Brisket is great. If your a party animal Purdue and the Levee area will be all you want. |

Hmmm... Don't know why my last reply didn't go through. It's hard finding listing for rentals, but I found one I'm considering a place in Springboro. Pretty isolated. Most everything are college kids or apartments.
The PSS is still for sale, but located in Iowa. My plan is to run back there next weekend and get the rest of my stuff. I'm used to being able to shoot on my own property, but it looks like the wildcat is the place to be. Thanks again all! |

Everyone hit Lafayette right on the head. Lots of great places to eat. Lafayette really shines in the summer, 30k less college kids around, no waits on any of the restaurants! lol. There are a few gunshops around, as well as a Sportsmans Warehouse, most of them are really good shops. Applied Ballistics is the place in town to go to for class 3 stuff. Wildcat is the best place around if your really into the shooting sports, it has excellent facilities. Jasper Pulaski is about an hour straight north of Brookston, and has a pretty nice layout. All you have to do is sign in at the station. There have been several ARFCOM meet and greets held there.
You might want to go checkout IN gun owners.com They have a good number of Lafayette people over there too. Welcome to Indiana |

In Indiana you can own the following items that are regulated the the National Firearms Act
Machine Guns Silencers Any Other Weapon (AOW) Destructive Devices (DD) Short Barreled Rifles (SBR) In Indiana you cannot own the following NFA restricted items. Short Barreled Shotguns (SBS) **** If I understand correctly the AOW has no stock and the SBS would have a stock? Im not the class 3 guy. "Short-barreled shotgun" means a shotgun having one or more barrels less than eighteen inches in length and any weapon made from a shotgun by any means of modification if such modified weapon has an overall length of less than twenty-six inches. |

I work for ADM.
Still looking for a place to live...UGH! The place in Springboro is looking better and better. Lots of homes that look like they were inhabited by the cat lady from the Simpsons and overpriced apartments. If I knew what CT referred to, I could tell you. |

Sorry took it to mean that you were already in Springboro? Are you looking at the sub divisions or down on one of the Bends(Horseshoe or Tecumseh)? Both can be flooded out at least once a year, it seems? CT is the large YMCA Camp on Tecumseh Bend Rd (it is on the high ground).

Oh, this is just down the road at the bottom of the hill, just past the bridge. I went over there the other day and the water was getting close. The guy wouldn't budge on the price, so no deal for me.
I found a place off of Klondike rd. Not a home in the country sadly, but it's a nice, clean 900 sq. ft apartment that the guy who's going to work in Swanington and I can split, |
