Found out at a company meeting on Sunday that a group of us are going to be Layed off right after the first of the year. While I can go on unemployement and take my kids out of daycare, I would sure rather be working. My employer told us that it will be for 60-90 days, but as we all know there are no guarentees. Anyways I am pretty much willing to do anything but this is what I have done for the last 15 years.

Operations manager for a Household goods distributor. I managed as many as 20 people, did Shipping/receiving, Inventory, HR, AR, material handling, etc.

Maintenance - took care of misc repairs, both in a warehouse along with some household repairs at some rentals that my employer owned. Electrical, plumbling, woodworking, etc.

Retail sales

Anyways, I have a good work history with good references. I have a chunk of misc college education but no degrees.

I am in the Fort Wayne area but am willing to travel a little if anyone has any suggestions or help they can provide.

Thanks in advance for anyones help. Feel free to pm or email me.
Thanks,
Matt

Sorry to hear that

I am somewhat in the same boat.  I graduate in 2 weeks and I still have yet to get a job (haven't heard from anyone).

If I see anything that might fall in line with your skills I'll try and post it here for you.  If one of them interests you I can copy the full description.  Off the top of my head some companies to look into would be:

AM General (South Bend)
Raytheon (moreso Indy)
Norfolk Southern (hub in Fort Wayne)
Cummins (Columbus)

Matt,
Check with the Ironworkers Local out of Fort Wayne.
You never know if there might be an opening for an apprentice and since you have maintenance experience it could be a way in.

They usually pay decently as well.

I feel for ya man!
Lost my job Nov 15th... layoff with no return to work date.
I'm in the Fort W area as well.
Not a lot of good going on around here right now.

Go to indeed.com and do a few searches.  Good web site goes out and crawls all over the job sites and employer sites as well.  I just found my new job using it.

I just did this search:
Distribution / Ft. Wayne Indiana

Saw this:
Looks like a place called Tuthill Transfer Systemns could use you.

I feel for you I still have a job but am only going to get 30.5hrs every other week. I will have to draw unemployment for the other week. I am thinking about picking up a part time job instead but even if I work as many hours as I can every week I doubt I can make more than unemployment will pay.

If anyone knows of anything in the Evansville area I would be more than willing to listen.

snagajob.com is good for hourly, temp and so forth.  But on Indeed you can search anything.
