Dunham's is running there AK sale again this week.  WASR with Dragonov stock for 249.99.

Has anyone here purchased one of these and what are your impressions of them?

Seems like a pretty good deal to me, but I'm not that familiar with them.

Thanks and have a great Easter Night.

I dont have one, but have handled them and shot them. They are a bit rough, but work fine.

Its an AK after all.

Thanks, that's the kind of reply I'm looking for.

I don't plan on using this as a 1000 yard precision gun, but at this price, I don't know how I could go wrong.

I would still like to hear from someone who has purchased from Dunhams (Angola is where I would be going) to see their report.

In my experience, get there early.  They tend to only have one or two(ifyou are lucky) in stock.

Good luck.

I used to live in Angola. I think I've bought 3 rifles from that store. Their inventory doesn't move too fast, except for Father's Day and after Thanksgiving. If it is a big sale you may want to go earlier in the day, but they usually have a good amount of WASR's in the case. I was there about a week back, and the cases were pretty full, but I don't know about that particular rifle.

There are a lot of reviews of WASR's in the tech forums and on other sites.

I bought a WASR 10 from dunhams (in Anderson) a few months ago....240.00.  You get what you pay for.  I knew that before buying.  I wanted somehing more powerful then my Beretta and 870.  I kept waiting to get the money for a AR but for 240 I still wait but will not unprotected.  Anyway it is what it is, clean it, accesoriez it, shoot it.  Mine came with 2 steel mags 1 holds 30 the other 23 or something.  I took it back and they said thats the way they come...lol, cleaning kit thats pretty much worthless and oil can (no oil).  I have not fired it yet but rough looking it is, it still  seems pretty strudy.  Dunhams will not use you Indiana Carry Permit to allow you take the rifle home with you.  They ran a check on me and with a very common name I had to wait a couple of days.  I thought that since I had permit they could let me have it the same day like every other gun shop I patronize.  There company policy says no.
I still have mine unfired with 1000 rds....looking to sell or trade in May when I get that big TAX REBATE,  thanks mr bush.
Also I bought 2 new pro mags from midwest and they do not fit well, they are tight and may need sanded on to get them work.
I saw the same add and the M1 carbine for 599 is pretty close in price with the ones you can get from CMP.

When is the last firearm you purchased?  Indiana has not fully participated with the feds for a few years so our carry permit does not exclude us from NICS any more.  Honestly i think it's been more than a few years.  I remember getting the letter when I worked in Kokomo and that's been nearly 3 years.

Cheers!

I bought a WASR with a regular stock from Dunhams about 2 years ago..

It ROCKS!!!!!!!!!

I would imagine that the thumbhole stock AK would be the same...

Here's mine..

Edited to add.. walked out of the store with it 10 minutes after I paid.. it's just a phonecall..

I bought WASR 10 from Dunhams in Anderson back in NOV 07.  I had to wait 2 days with just a phone call.  After the phone call I was told I had to wait.  He said if I would have filled in the optional SSN it may have been approved immediately but I have a common name and did not give SSN.  I have only recently got life time permit and it been several years since my last permit expired.  So does this mean with my common name I can look foward to delays in regular gun shops too?

Ask your dealer for the NICS form to obtain a UPIN number, it will help you from getting delayed when you purchase new guns at a dealer.
