I know here in Mooresville they predicted 5-8" of snow and alot of ice. We got plenty of ice you can skate on the deck and back in the field...... maybe they meant 5/8" of snow? Or maybe I jinxed it by gasing up the tractor and backing it in the garage..... |
We got maybe a 1/2" of ice and a thin dusting of snow. They were flipping out at work thinking friday's overtime would be cancelled. Normally when it's get like this my mail box gets run over. The last guy that hit it ran.... with me standing in the yard watching.

Got about 4-6" here around Fort Wayne. A far cry from the 9-14" that was predicted. I made the liquor store run just in case...... I wouldn't want to have to trek out in the Jeep during a blizzard ya' know. I am a little disappointed, would've liked to seen about a foot with some high winds. |

Greenrifle, were you "watching them" thru your scope? My daughter was very disappointed that she couldnt sled down our front hill, and my son only had a 2hr delay. I was off this week anyhow, a "downweek", I'm just disappointed that I didnt make it to the range!!! |

I've noticed a trend in broken off mail boxes this winter! I was also wishing for a foot or two of snow! I'm sick of the cold weather with no snow to play in with 4 wheelers, sleds, etc... Although shooting on Sunday may be in order if we actually get back up into the 40/50's. |
You should see the way they act here in NC they call 1" a snowstorm down here. The first time I witnessed it I was like All the bread and milk will disappear from all stores. schools shut down city businesses shut down a complete stand still. I happened just a few weeks ago it snowed maybe 1/2" in the whole state And it was all melted by 9am but they still shut the schools down.

tdog, We have the "run" on milk, bread and water here too. A few days before and definately the night before the milk will be sold out. I think Kroger calls the weatherman and says: "we have excess bread, milk and water, can you help us"? Anyhow, I am from Michigan and I too laugh at some things we "Hoosiers" do when its both predicted and after the snow falls. ![]() |
Yes I am originally from Fort Wayne and remember those times the but it is ten times worse for that here in NC. This is when they predict it and all we get is a dusting and they call it the "Winter Storm of 08'" |

I caught the guy who ran over my mailbox two night after it happened. I had seen the vehicle several times before at around midnight quite frequently ( early 90's lumina van with the long nose and tall vertical tail lights) The first night I sat in my jeep with my lights off in my driveway from 1130 to 1230 to see if he went by, nope. The next night walking out my door at about 1155 to ambush the van. I caught up to him pretty quickly in 4WD and got his plate #. He kept on pulling into my neighbors driveways and turning off his lights trying to ditch me while I was talking to the SD on the cell. The only deputy was on the other side of the county at an accident. I passed the guy up and turned around so I could get a better look at his front end. The two 6X6 posts had left some pretty unmistakable damage to his hood. He took off again and I just went home. The Deputy called me a little later asking for more info and said the guy was a POS that was always in trouble for something.Anyways on thursday night I was in the local JC and CVS and there were around 8 gallons of milk left between the two stores. The wife and I like to watch frantic un prepared sheeple "preparing" for storms. |

Good for you GreenRifle!!! A little tactical work is good for the soul. When I built my brick mailbox we had some mortar mix left so........ lets just say the the mailbox base is very solid!!! My country road has a "crown" right between my neighbors and my driveway and vehicles have a tendancy to veer away and off into the irrigation ditch/ creek across the road, or crash into my neighbors yard. Well all of the rain is doing more damage than the "big storm" now. |
