When is headspacing a concearn?
When changing to a new barrel?
New BCG?  I'm about to finish
building 2 AR's and I wanna
make sure I don't miss any
important steps, such as
checking the headspacing.

If you are using a new barrel and bolt, there's around a 99% chance that the headspacing is fine. It's when you go throwing used parts into the mix that you may have a problem -- and then it's still not that common.

Headspace in an AR is set by the bolt (independent of the carrier) and the barrel extension.  If both are new then assuming the parts are in-spec then headspace will be in spec, which is 99+% of the time as M4Madness noted.

If either of the parts is used, then you should probably check the new combination, though odds are it'll be OK then too.

If you want to check the headspace I have a set of gagues.  It would not take that long to verify the headspace if you want.

Hey guys, thanks for the info!  I didn't
think it was that big of an issue, but
glad to know for sure.  Thanks for the
offer Chuck, but I'll probably try to pick up
a set of gauges at the next show.
