I will be getting out of the Army in about 3 weeks and I need a job. I really want to be a police officer but I cant find any job openings on the web. My uncle told me that Knox is hiring so im going to call them tomorrow but i would like to put in multiple applications.

Do any of you guys know of anyone hiring? If so a way to contact them? I would like to work in NW IN but i will move for the right job.

Thank You for any info.

They are consolidating the Indianapolis Police Department and the Marion County Sheriff's Department effective Jan 07.  There will be a mass exodus of those lucky enough to be elligible for retirement.  They will be hiring quite a few people over the next year or so.

To add to that, there will be a vacuum effect as LEO's  from all over the state move to Indy to fill slots.  So there should be jobs open all around eventually.

KNOX?!  Tough town, tough crowd them Knoxonians are.  I have a bud on the Rochester force.  This is morbid, but one of their own was recently killed in Iraq and due to return soon.  Or was he on the Plymouth force?

I am in HR so death is part of the employment process for me.  An opening is an opening, regardless of cause.  Sucks, but jobs need to be filled.

The Indiana State Police will be hiring a couple of hundred Troopers over the next couple of years. They are currently planning to run back to back classes. There is currently a selection process underway but they are taking apps all of the time. Look here. They have an online application. Good luck brother.

My understanding is that the State Police is in great need of qualified new Troopers, as many current Troopers are eligible to retire in the coming years. Best of luck in your search and thanks for your service.

My family moved here from The Glen Park section of Gary in 1969. Been here every since.  So I guess I must like it, although I do travel to Hobart to work. Knox is growing some, getting some better paying jobs, all in all not a bad place at all to live.

Yeah, the Indiana State Police has been having schools back to back and we will be continuing that for a long while.  You might want to check into it since the news guys just got a big bump in pay.  They took care of everyone but the older guys!

I love being a trooper, I just don't necessarily enjoy working for the Indiana State Police after nearly 12 years!  They really need some lessons on how to treat their employees!  As far as where to work, when you graduate from the academy, they will send you to a praticular post, a lot of guys have been getting back to their home districts or really close.  After a year, you can opt to put in for a transfer to another district.  More than likely, you wouldn't have to spend more than a year or two in a district that you don't want.
