Could we organize a CCW application protest.  Flood the "man" with applications as a form of protest.
Set a date, send in a legitimate application less the application fee.  It has got to get some attention to the problem.
yes, no, maybe so???   Has anything like this been done before?

I think they would probably just laugh, and then throw them out

Until things change, you'll probably be donating your application fee.

That said, the man can continue to say they approve a high number of applications since everyone knows you're wasting your money.

Reread what I said “…less the application fee.”  Sure, they may deny the application because the application fee isn’t there.  I am not suggesting that an en-mass pouring in of applications will make anyone change their mind.  The entire point is to draw attention to the issue; the attention of fellow gun owners, the media, the Maryland State Police and the politicians who can change the law.  Far too often firearm owners are trivialized as the minority.

I was hoping that a suggestion would motivate some Maryland Residents to action.

Meh.

I think your time is better spent sending in for a nonresident to VA, FL, etc.  At least then you have a permit and you're adding momentum to the national trend.

Don't think that "they" don't notice.  They know quite well what's going on.  They just don't care because any change would just mean more work for them.  They're content with the good ol' boys club until they're forced to change.  The citizenry is what needs to be targeted.

So, you advertise, do open holster events, hold public shooting days, youth/hunters' education, women's self defense classes, that kind of thing.  Grassroots and change people's idea about guns one at a time.  Meanwhile, as the national trend of CCW continues to grow, more states and jurisdictions will jump onboard, revert to shall-issue, shore up laws, write in Constitutional protections, etc.  Note that even here in MD there are bills that get voted on with substantial support.  The trend is in the right direction.

If anybody is interested in helping out, they should apply for a nonresident permit, acquire knowledge about the issue (perhaps even take a training class or two) and, perhaps most importantly, take other people shooting.  Everybody loves busting clays, I don't care who you are.  Take that guy from work who expresses interest in shooting every now and then.

Spending the time and effort to flood the mailbox of someone who doesn't have the power to change anything and wouldn't do it even if they did...  Well, I just think your time can be better spent elsewhere.  Noble idea, though.
