Anyone have a welding machine in Delaware?  I have a loose heat shield on my car that needs a spot weld.

Thanks,

K

Use one or two very large hose clamps.  They make a kit that comes with 2 worm drives and enough material to make 2 very large clamps.  I got mine at a local Tru Valu, but I think even Home Depot or Lowe's carry them.  I've had the hose clamp on my wife's truck for over 6 years now, and it's still going strong.

You could also zip a self tapping screw through the shield

The self-tapper would work too.  The problem with the spot welds is that they rust out and will fail again, and that's if there's even enough area left for a spot weld.  And that damn buzzing noise the heat shield makes drives me crazy.

The heatshield is on the exhaust pipe.  It's a half round piece that's supposed to be spot welded to the pipe.  One end is welded, looks like they forgot to weld the other end.  It's very annoying.

Just cut the darn thing off.  I work for Nissan and they rust out constantly, we just cut them off.
