Would all the MD class 3 laws apply to .22LR? I thought I remember something about
.22 calibers being exempt in some way??? could be wrong

IF not I guess it would have had to be registered before 1986?

Anyone know how much .22LR machine guns cost?

video's below.

Caliber does not make a difference.

Forest is correct.  NFA applies to any machine gun regardless of caliber.  This is a federal law as well, the state can ban them or refuse to sign the paperwork if they want to and you won't get the gun.  Fortunately, MD is C3 friendly and you can own both weapons, but you have to register them every year for $10 (Regardless of how many you own.)  As always, you owe a one time $200 tax when you transfer the machine gun to the US government.

The first video is a American 180 (I used to own one back in the day.)  A transferable AM180 is going between $9K and $10K these days, plus you have to deal with the hi-cap magazine laws in this state.  Don't let the .22 caliber fool you, that gun can poke a hole in a brick wall - I have done it personally.

The second is a MAC-10 with a .22 Rimfire adapter kit installed.  A stock 9mm/.45 cal MAC-10 is going for $3000-$3500, but if you are lucky, you can still find them NIB.  Sam at Practical Solutions stocks them.  I remember when F/A MAC-10's were $259.00 new... what an investment those are.  I currently own one papered in .22/9mm/.45ACP setup in 9mm.  They are a bunch of fun and legal in Maryland, even though the semi auto version is not.  Go figure.

It is ironic it is easier to get a machine gun than a CCW in this state....

I'm highly interested in watching or shooting the 22lr vindicator.  I think that dual 10/22 semi auto gun is just pretty clunky and stupid.
