I am looking for a reputable retail store that carries a decent selection of Springfield 1911's.

I am looking for a TRP and the store that I have bought from in the past is giving me the run around.

Can you recommend a good store?

Thanks!

Google Map of location, going north, make a left at the arrow.

I have been in there a few times and they have a decent selection. Prices are slightly better than Barts and the guys working there are pretty helpful. They also sell suppressors, and I think they also handle MGs.

Anybody is cheaper then Barts

Another vote for A & D pawn, I've purchased several guns from those guys, they are among the best in the area IMO.

I spoke with Jim today and he does sound knowledgeable and very helpful. I'll do business with them when Springfield starts shipping TRP's again.

Thanks for the lead on A&D

I probaly went itno AD like 25 times before i bought my first gun, hell i was 16 when we started going. Ive bought most of my guns from him, and the dickhead that owns the Armory in annapolis. Even tho the armory has a beter selection and is a "cooler" store, the prices and customer service arent. You can either have A&D order it or transfer through them. My bro just bought a g17 from them, and i still have a gemtech can on transfer with them. Always are very nice, talkitive and helpfull. It is one of 2 guns stores i have been into and not fed the gun show bullshit talk. Thats why When im on the western shore, thats where i go for my firearm needs.

I've always had a horrible time there.  From their smart ass responses to their grime covered rifles.  And walking in there is like walking into a giant ashtray.  There's usually a cloud of smoke in that joint.

At one time Lou Klein had a selection of them (is he still around?).  Same for Otto's Police Supply.

Shooters Discount in Mt. Airy has had them as well.

I don't know how that guy stays in business. I'm assuming it's by selling guns to all the section 8 housing residents who don't know better than to shop around. That guy's prices have always kept me away.

Been there once... wasn't impressed at all.

To add to the list and excusing my bias...
- Christian Soldier (Parkville?)
- The Gun Rack (Burtonsville)
- On Target (Odenton/Ft Meade)
- The Armory (Annapolis)

Of those four I'm down to only one I will continue to patronize.

I have to say you are right about the Armory in Annapolis. I always got a creepy feeling in that place and their prices are very high. I get the feeling Hal has a very repressive hold on the people there. They also have a kind of snobbish attitude. I only go there when I have to for the sake speed on some items they may have in stock, which is not much usually.

Yeah. I wasn't going to shit on any particular shops, but the Armory is pretty low on my list.
Hal is pretty much a douche.
It would be easier to say which ones I do like... which at this point is On Target and only because the prices are decent and I sold a gun there. The guys working there are for the most part retards and the owner/manager is ok.
I used to swear by The Gun Rack but the owner of that one is a bigger asshole than Hal. He always seems to have a bug up his ass and only turns on the charm when there is a definite sale. The other guy, Hugh IIRC, is a good guy.
I've only been to Arundel Pawn once and I have no plans of going back. Wasn't the least bit impressed.

a big +1 for A&D Pawn Shop. That place is probably the best gun store ive been to in MD. Decent prices, nice selection, excellent staff. I've bought quite a few guns from them.

On Target is decent too.

I've been in MD since October, and visisted a number of gunshops.

On Target: Been in there twice, I'll likely never buy anything from them. There was one older guy in there that was alright, but I didn't like anyone else that was working there.

Continental Arms: Been there twice, definitely the most interesting selection of the places I've been to here. Didn't have the best reception from the start, but after talking to them for a while they seemed like decent guys. I can understand them being stand-offish from the start though with some of the thugs and goobers that wandered in. The second time I was there, there were three black guys that came in, all wanting to rent Glock faw-tees, and one wanted to shoot his AR. The conversation about why he couldn't shoot his AR in their indoor range was something out of a sitcom.

Crosswind Gun Shack, Mt Airy: Been there twice, I kind of liked the shop setup in a way, and the guys working seemed nice and willing to help where they could.

Gun Cellar, Union Bridge: Nothing of interest and the guy working wouldn't give me the time of day.

Brownstone Trading Company, Westminster: Not exactly what I was expecting. I was looking for a little bigger building/shop, ended up being a big shed in the guy's yard that was without a doubt the most disorganized looking shop I've ever seen anywhere. The vault in the back was a slight surprise. Looked like an old abandoned gunshop in part of a ghost town. The guy was very nice though.

White Marsh Arms, Reisterstown: Kind of interesting pistol selection. The guys again weren't real friendly for the ten minutes I was there, but then again, I might not be very friendly if I had to work in a neighborhood that looked like that either.

Otto's Police Supply: Haven't been there yet, but I heard about it when I met Otto a few weeks ago. We talked for about 25 minutes, seemed like a very nice guy. Gave me his card, but I haven't been down there yet.

I think that's all of the ones I've been to here. Might have to check out A&D one of these days if I'm in the area. I always avoided gunshops that were pawn shops, but you can't argue with that many good reviews.

Let's see . . . On Target has horribe customer service and even worse prices.  You can find a pistol online, buy it, ship it, pay the transfer fee and still pay less than you would at On Target.  The staff's work ethic is almost non-existent- God forbid they come over and ask if you want to see something and answer questions.  Last place I wold buy a firearms from.

I visit bradleys shop regularly, I dont mind the disorganization really. He has some good deals, and seems to usually have a good selection of milsurp firearms. Hes a really nice guy, and if you have any questions about black powder at all, hes the man to talk to. Ive bought a good number of guns from him.

Yeah, they do hire some real clowns to work there. But again, consider the location. I believe Section Housing is about a block or three up the road from there so they get a steady flow of dumb asses coming in there. Once they make contact with you and you express an interest in purchasing something their attitudes lighten up a little. I think they just get tired of people coming in there and looking around like the place is some kind of gun museum. Plus they have the added bonus of monitoring the range.

I'm not saying it's the best place in town or that it has the best prices, but having been around they're DEFINITELY not the worse. I'd say Bart's is the worse for prices, followed by The Armory in Annapolis... which also takes the cake for moron workers/owners. Even when I've had "friendly" conversation with those guys I feel like they are just completely full of shit.
