Section 4 of the MDSP LIcense & Permit Application states:

Note: "A permit to use, possess, or purchase bulletproof body armor is not required for persons not convicted of a violence or drug trafficking crime."

I have never been arrested.
I called MDSP yesterday and asked for an interpretation on the Note and was told it means "If you've got a record don'ts even bother applying, but if you're clean you still need to apply for the permit." At least this is what I thought I heard.

I called MDSP again today and spoke w/ a different person who said she specializes in permits and she said "Note means if you have a clean record you can buy/possess whatever body armor you want, and the previous advice or my interpretation of such was wrong."

Anyone know first hand?

TIA

You don't need any kind of permit to buy body armor.

No you don't need a permit .....but some companies might not sell them without a LE letter head.

Be careful buying used or old gear, that stuff has a definite shelf life and is adversely affected by perspiration, among other things.
