| Went today, was well worth the drive. And I rarely have anything nice to say about gun shows any more these days. All the usual but huge, and the main thing that stood out was internet-level prices on guns. Saw a new Vector AK for $459, another guy was there selling a table of Hakim's (Egyptian made FN-49's) for 175-200. Yes they were beaters but normally I see these for 350 up. Fair Yugo 59/66's, 88 bucks. Those are just examples, saw reasonable prices all around. Almost bought a Saiga for $229 but wasn't sure if it was considered regulated or not, another thread here on that. A nice show all around. |
Yeah we got caught in that storm on the way home. Flooding was terrible. I take the back roads through Norrisville and such and for once was glad the wife made us get an SUV (Submersible Utility Vehicle ). I used to use oven cleaner for cleaning up those totally greased C&R's I bought, worked well but they really do mean it when they say don't get it on your skin, ouch . I've found a can of Birchwood Casey Gun Scrubber for six bucks from Wally World is well worth the expense, and usually gives you just enough to get one rifle de-cosmo'd relatively easily with a little left over. FYI Sarco has forty dollar "survival kits" for SKS's that include a new stock and bolt/carrier and just about everything else except a barreled reciever and FCG if you decide you want to replace anything.

The Hakim is not a Fn-49 variant, its a Ljungman AG-42 variant. |
