I shoot there as well, GREAT matches. Come on down!! |
| AGGHH! More Southern MD boys! OT,but do they ever do Hi-power qualifications there to get the DCM M1s? I talked to Vernon there some years ago about joining, but then I moved up county, plus driving anywhere near the base was becoming a pain.New to the forums and only been AR'ing since last summer, but still cackle like a schoolgirl every time I empty a mag. Bridgeville Rifle and Pistol Club used to do these....might be a bit of a swim for ya tho.... Bridgevill Rifle and Pistol Club |
St Charles Sportsmans Club in Waldorf is an affiliated club for DCM. |
I don't believe this is true. I'm not 100%, but I believe it's open to the public. Don't see why the club would pass up guest's $10, especially when other matches are open to the public. rvb |
The Match Schedule is posted on the Sanner's Lake web site. As far as I know all matches are open to the public. I can say for sure that the IDPA matches ARE OPEN to the public. I am a Saftey Officer there and do some of the match admin work, sign up list, collect the $$$, etc. If you shoot a Classifier you must be an IDPA member, but not necessarily a Sanners Lake member. We would like you to be a member, but you don't have to be. We get all sorts of LEOs, Federal Protective Agents, Naval Academy Shooting Team, retired folks, and on and on coming out to shoot. Hey, we have a spot open for you-come on down. ETA: Yes, the 3 gun matches are also open to the public. What a blast! Loads of fun. |

don't forget Sunday's IDPA match is the first of the year on the summer schedule, 9am start time. ugh.... back to getting up at 6am for the commute down there. At least I'll be home before the sun is setting. see you there, rvb ETA: fozzylee, your original post made it sound like you had to be a member of sanner's to shoot IDPA. For everyone else's clarification, yea, you need to be an IDPA member to shoot IDPA, but you need not be a member of Sanner's Lake. You need not belong to anything to shoot 3-gun, just bring your gear. Same w/ all the other shooting sports there (skeet, etc). ps. I'm not a member, either. If the commute was 1/2 as far, I'd be a member and be there multiple times a week. It's a nice facility. 3.5 to 4 hrs in the car is too much for weekly practice though. :( rvb |
You can always just show up and shoot, heck you can shoot a second time if you want and it's not too late. Web site is Sanners_Lake.com. Has directions as well as the match schedules for the year listed. PM me and we can arrange to talk on the phone if you want to. |

LOUBIE, you know me... My real name's Ryan. I'll say "hey" incase you're as bad with names as I am !!! Also, there was a typo in the web address you gave, it's www.sanners-lake.com. "-", not "_" ... Gotta be quicker with that shift key! ha kingfish, you can just show up and shoot. Suggest getting there a little early (8am) if you're new to IDPA for the walk-through and safety brief. Keep your weapon wrapped up until you learn about the "safe area." Just walk up to anyone there and say "Hey!! I'm new but I want to shoot." We'll point you in the right directions. rvb |
Hi Ryan, Ya my typing is about as bad as my shooting. I should have done a Tactical retype, with retention. See ya Sunday. Hey, if you care to and are close enough, the ROs meet at IHOP around 6 for breakfast before we hit the range. You don't have to eat, just get some coffee or juice and shoot the s**t with us.

Take Route 5 south to Lexington Park. About 45 minutes from Waldorf. Watch for NAS Patuxent River signs (Naval Air Station). Turn right on Great Mills Road which is at the the GATE 2 entrance to NAS. Go about a couple of miles, Aldredge Ford is on the right, at the crest of a small hill, slow down and turn left at the Golf driving range-the Road is "Sanners"-something-road, lane, what ever. The black top turns to gravel road (it is, after all a gravel pit!). Bear to the left after passing the gate which will be open and keep on coming straight . You will go between two lakes or so. The range is on the left. Plenty of parking. A good land mark is an old brown house trailer on the right-range on the left. Call me on the cell if you need further. I will PM it to you. |
