I posted this over in the armory section but it isn't getting much traction so I thought I would post here.
OK so here’s the situation and the questions I am pondering. I currently run a home-based FFL/SOT as a sole-proprietor and I am considering a move/promotion for my day-job to a less than friendly NFA state; Minnesota. 1) I see that suppressors are a no-go in the state, but I would assume SOT’s are able to possess them and sell to any other SOT and customers who are outside of MN. Is that an accurate assumption? 2) I also assume that if I ever give up my business once I'm in MN, any remaining suppressors would have to be moved out of MN for me to remain legal per state laws. 3) My understanding is that in MN, you may only purchase machineguns which are C&R’s. What about inventory I already have such as pre-’86 dealer samples? Again if I ever give up my business after going to MN, I wouldn’t be “purchasing” the non-C&R machineguns I already have but I would still have possession of them without my SOT. Issues there? 4) Are there any other MN specific state laws/issues/concerns I should be aware of while thinking about a possible move? Does anyone know of, or perhaps happen to be, a MN FFL/SOT who might be able to help shed some light on these questions? |
