| My brother has 2 Romanian AK kits and bent receivers for a couple of years now. He hasn't had the time to do anything with them, but wants to get them together somehow. He wants to know if there is anybody here that has the tools and know-how to rivet the things together. If anybody can help, IM me. |
| I have always though puting together an AK from a kit would be fun, if we can find someone that knows how to do it and would be willing to tell us what we need to buy and then stand over our shoulders and walk a bunch of noobs through the process I think it would be fun to put together a build party. I have seen them being organized on a few other HTF's and thought it would be a fun evening of getting to know some other like minded people and going home at the end of the night with a new toy. |

Screw builds are "easier" but you still have to deal with making sure its head-spaced and the rest of it is aligned.
I've done 2 screw and 1 rivet build in my life. Rivet looks "nicer" until Tapco came out with better fasteners. Still need to heat treat the rcvr or it will become dangerous over time. akbuilder.com has the tools to rivet it, but, its not cheap to do just one. the only parts that NEED rivets over screws are the front and rear trunions. The rest of it can be screws. Rails still need to be welded, though. |
