What's happening where you are?

Everything is covered in a fine sheen of ice here in Robbinsdale, but I've yet to venture any further than my backyard.

I just went out on foot.  My sidewalks are trecherous, the alley was nearly impossible to walk, and the streets are death traps.

I'm staying home today.

i got as far as the back step. i just had my sandals on to take the dog out quick, my feet took off without my command and i grabbed the railing to try to save myself, with no luck.

my dog cushioned my fall though. poor guy.

I tried driving last night from Mendota Heights to MPLS at about 11PM. Cars were on the side of the road everywhere. After the F150 did a 360 + 180 on 62 right before the Mendota Heights bridge, ending up facing the wrong way, missing a Tahoe by 2 inches, and all in 4x4 mind you, I decided to head back to my friend's place in MH and crash there until they salted/sanded the roads. I just went over the median on 62 as the other direction on the bridge was stopped dead as a few cars flipped over and were blocking traffic completely further up.

I left around 0400 to hit the deer stand for some bow action. STUPID!!! I'm now a popsicle and have to keep wiping the bow off to keep it from freezing solid. What the hell was I thinking??!

Hope this works...

Last night was absolutely terrifying.  Had to go from Cottage Grove to Eagan.  Some days I regret buying a gas-sucking truck, but not last night.

Looked wet when I went out to start the truck for church. Not wet. Yep, on my butt feet in the air. Passed on church and probably not going bow hunting this afternoon, unless it warms up more. Be safe out there.

I went out this morning to move the car from the street to the driveway so I wouldnt get a ticket.  Had fun sliding down the driveway and street in my boots.

Walking from the car to the house I ended up on my ass and elbow.

St. Paul Pionner Press:  MINNEAPOLIS—A night and morning of freezing drizzle and rain coated central and southern Minnesota roads with ice and caused hundreds of accidents including at least one fatal accident in Meeker County.
The precipitation hit the Twin Cities metro area around 10 p.m. Saturday night causing dozens of accidents on freeways and side streets. Roads are still slick Sunday and the National Weather Service says freezing drizzle could continue into Sunday night.

The State Patrol says a four-vehicle accident on icy roads near Litchfield around 11 p.m. Saturday night resulted in the death of one person who was ejected from one of the vehicles. Two other people were injured and listed in critical condition. The victim has not been identified.

A spokesman for the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport tells WCCO-AM in Minneapolis that all runways at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport were closed from about midnight to 5 a.m. Sunday but that two are now open and the third will be soon.

Sort of funny, the wife said "I thought I heard something and looked out and all I saw were your feet" Looks like it's nice enough to go bow hunting now.

My wife is pissed because I didn't scrape her car too.  She can waddle her 6 month pregnant butt out there and do it herself.

j/k

I will do it later today

I closed the bar early last night, put my staff up in the Crown Plaza and drove a few people home.  freeways were closed all around.  Cab companies pulled their cabs out of service, no buses were running, and downtown Saint Paul looked like a zombie movie.  That is if they ever made a zombie movie about drunk zombies who don't know where to go and can not walk and keep falling on the ground in a hilarious fashion.  I am not kidding when I say that people resorted to crawling to the nearest hotel.  I am glad I called and reserved the hotel rooms before midnight.  For others, "there was no room in the inn."

You really need to put up a notification when this variety of hilarity is occurring.  Some of us have 4WD and would love to come watch.

Today, I salted the driveway.  That's it.  Last night though I had to drive about 20 miles to get home from my oldest daughter's "beauty and the Beast" play.  Set the cruise at 25 the whole way.  Almost took out the garage on my way in the driveway...

Hey, we went to that play on Friday night.  Was this at East Ridge?  What part did your daughter play?  It was a well done play. Our kids liked it.

Ice mixed with snow up here in Duluth, so not quite as treacherous driving to work.

If I'd had the choice I would have stayed at home though!!!!

My Wife put the dog outside two nights ago when it was icy. She said the dog made the first step and slid down on her torso the other 4.

Ha ha! I wish I could have seen it! The dog then turned around without peeing and tried to come right back in.

Yeah I wish I was in town, I'd have been laughing with ya.  It was just snow flurries up north.

We were down in Dundas visiting my wife's family.  We headed out at a little past midnight and the roads didn't seem too bad until we hit 35 headed north.  I could feel the car floating and decided to slow down, yet people were still blowing past me.  Some which we caught up to a little ways up the road, who wound up in the ditch.  Even the 18 wheelers that went past me were eventually at a crawl.  We made it to Lakeville and decided to pull off the freeway and get a hotel room.

Funny you mention that.  I saw plenty of 4WD trucks off of 35 that had expended their off road capabilities.

All but one of the vehicles I winched out of the ditch today were 4wd....hmmm.

You bastards need to learn to slow down....and move the fack over when you see people working on the shoulder of the road. I understand that the flashing yellow lights on top of that big ass truck with the guys decked out in glow green and stripes are kind of hard to see, but if you do catch a glimpse of one...move over....
