My company has partnered with the non-profit Green Vets and Americorps to have a one of our Nevada Conservation Corps crews fully filled with Vets. The crew Supervisor is a recent Vet. It's a good chance for Vets to see what conservation projects are like in the Nevada Region and get exposure with most of the Land Management agencies here to see if they would like to pursue careers with them. If you guys know any Vets that might be interested in coming out to Nevada for 6 months of work let me know and I'll give them my contact info and our H.R. dept.

well, our projects range from building hiking trails in the high ponderosa covered mountains outside of Las Vegas to cleaning up un-approved dump sites in the desert to removing invasive plant species from Lake Mead....and everything between. Most of the projects are fun and we can see the direct benefit....and others can suck a bit, but have to get done. our work tours are either 4days or 8days depending on the project and all are remote backcountry camping (often through inclement winter weather). Our Vet crew will be a 6 month crew, but there are often opportunities to extend out to a max of two years and some promotional potential. If you enjoy camping and working outside in tight knit crews doing rewarding work this may be for you.
