Just got my first Summons for Jury Duty in the mail today. |
|
I got called last year. Would have been one of the most boring days of my life if it hadn't been my first time and I was therefore somewhat interested in the process.
It was going to be a rape case...Kids went out and got drunk, boy stuck something somewhere where girl didn't want it stuck. The problem was, did girl say so before, or after it got stuck there? Dumb fucking kids. Lets ruin our lives before they've even had a chance to start them. We were all probed on our education level, where we worked, if we were married, if we were, the spouse education level and where they worked. You won't get picked if you're too smart, or if you're too dumb. If you get picked, that means they think you're an average Joe/Jane. |
|
Please go, take it seriously and participate to the best of your ability. The jury system is part of the foundation that makes America great.
Yes, it is an inconvenience. Yes, you will think that someone is being stupid and it will probably be very boring. However, whatever the case is about, remember that it is probably the most important thing going on in the lives of the plaintiff and defendant, and likely has been the center of their existence for quite some time. That said, I hope you get an interesting case if they need you! Good luck! |
| my last time around i was picked but then kicked for a case involving two illegals that robbed another illegal at knife point... when they asked me if the fella's status made any difference to me i suggested we send all three of them back to motherland and skip the trial... |

I'd have asked for them to be prosecuted for stealing from me. |

if you want out, say the words "jury nullification" lawyers hate that. I work for Ramsey county, and in the jail too. I thought that was going to be my ticket out, so I showed up the first day with my ID ....but I wasn't even called to be put on any jury for the whole week |

I work once a week with a severely mentally handicapped kid and his dad (wife has nothing to do with kid) is on the jusry duty list. He wrote a lengthy letter with all kinds of documentation as to the disability and how he can't have part time staff raise his kid. The response was that if called he needs to be at court. I guess he could bring the kid along |

wear your NObama shirt, and eye-fuck the hell out of the defendant. claim that the courts are ALWAYS right when charging someone. of course, we know they arent, but it might be fun! What he said... So many folks are interested in getting out of jury duty. They forget that it is exactly this that makes our legal system work. I was a juror on a murder case. It was a full blown wake-up. This stuff matters! Your mileage will not vary. This is important. |
