I am looking for some weapons training facilities and courses in MN. I am North metro, and am looking for Carbine, Handgun, Shotgun, and knife defense courses.

Could y'all point me in the right direction>?

If you are L.E. Alexandria Tech has an M16/AR15 Instructor/Armorers course in like May, also a firearms instructor course.

Look into Defensive Edge.  They have a web site, and are on the forums here.  (ETA: In the industry section)  Alot of their classes are north metro.  I took their 2 tactical cabine class in Princeton, MN last fall.    Top notch

Russkie,
we offer training on weapons shooting disciplines like: Carbine, Precision Rifle, Shotgun, Handgun and Revolver.  We also have Defense Alternatives and Urban Combatives courses that implement all types of different tools.  A lot of our training courses are tactics based to include Vehicle Tactics, Home Defense, Urban Tactics and Team Tactics.  Armoring courses are available in AR15/M16, Shotguns, Precision Bolt Rifles, 1911 pistol, and we also offer a Glock Gunsmithing & Repair course.  We do training courses all over the country, and our home based range is in Princeton MN.  It is winter and we do not do a lot of multiple of long day type training due to the cold, we offer some half day stuff like our Cold Weather Handgun.  The current training calendar for 2010 will be posted in the next week or so, as we are just finalizing some dates.

You will not find a better instructor in Greg Sullivan.  He affords practical hands on training which other instructors do not.  Not even close!

We're pretty lean for training opportunities in MN thank God for Sully and Defensive Edge - wish we had an indoor facitlity so we could continue and maintain training during our long winters !

I was thinking of the first Handgun-1 course I ever took with Sully when the outdoor temp was about 4 degrees.  Talk about prepping oneself for winter carry...

+1

I took a handgun course from Defensive Edge a few years ago to get my CCW permit. DI don't recall the instructor's name, but he was top notch. I want to take the carbine course, but ammo prices and not wanting to deplete my small cache is holding me back from doing much shooting these days.

Hopefully I can score some weekends off this summer, or else maybe drum up a few cohorts for some private classes that fit my messed up schedule. I'm so close to Princeton that it's a crying shame that I haven't made it to one yet.

I also took my first handgun class from Sully.....He will teach you to shoot better, no matter how well you shoot now.  His class is very well recommended as you can see.... another strong +1

Have done a couple handgun classes with Sully. I walked away learning quite a bit.

On my to do list are some of his long gun courses. Now that my little monsters are , and I have retired from .mil. I may have some time to do that.

Am I missing something, or does the training calendar only go through the end of March right now?  Will you be announcing more dates / classes any time soon?

Some of our Armorer Courses are restricted to Law Enforcement/Military, and some are Open Enromment.  The content of the course is the same, the restricted courses are usually done at a facility that is not open to the general public, and the open enrollment courses are done at facilities where everyone is welcome.  If you look at our 2009-2010 calendar you will see that we have done or will be doing open enrollment armorer courses in TX, TN, MI, IA, VA, GA, NV, MO, WI, CO, NJ, AK, IL, IN, AL, and a few others that may not come to mind.  We have our calendar posted online through March and a few other dates, you will see it updated in the next week with most of dates through August, as our webmaster is working on a few confirmations and then updating the website.
