hi guys, i am fairly new to the MN area but i was wondering about what i have seen in news clips and such.
do you guys ever have BBQ's or other such events in or around the Minneapolis area where everyone OC's, as sort of a show of how gun owners are responsible? was just curious if this occurs around here or if there are too many people (sheep) who will turn it into a police interaction |

I wouldn't call it an 'open-carry event' per se, but there will be lots of folks with guns on them, some of them open.
Gun Rights Gathering Picnic Gun Rights Gathering and potluck BBQ on Sunday June 28th @ 11am held at Lake Harriet Bandshell picnic area in Minneapolis.
Feel free to come out and enjoy the company of fellow gun enthusiasts and permit holders while having a brat or burger and cold sodas. Open carry welcome, but carry how YOU feel comfortable. *** Since it is on the Lake Harriet running path if the weather is nice the 'wildlife' will be fun to watch. |

I'm all for the right of people to open carry firearms lawfully, but there is a time and a place for everything. I know it went off last year without a hitch, but it only takes ONE piece of bad press to get the public opinion against ALL forms of carry not just OPEN carry. For the record, that is why I am against this. For everyone's sake I hope it goes off without a hitch. Bad idea to do this in Liberal Lakes Central, though. Sheep do not like to be force fed beef.
