Hi guys.  Heading up to the BWCA next week and I'd like to know what MN's laws say about open carry in the wilderness.  I have an MN carry permit, but my wife does not, and since our group sometimes splits up for a day, I like her to be armed when I'm not around.

TIA.

Do you know if the BWCA is state or federal? They have been going around and around about ccw in federal parks. I would check on that first and formost. As far as leaving it with your wife, I am pretty sure it would have to be cased if you are not in direct control of the firearm. It is your permitt. Have her get her own permitt

BWCA is not a Park it is a designated wilderness area of a national forest.  open carry is good to go on all national forest public land in MN.  Voyagers is a National Park, check with them for carry status of you plan on entering the N.P.

The ranger at the Ely station told me guns are allowed in the BWCA.  My CCW teacher also said it is okay.

I know it may not be grounded in the firmest facts of legality, but I mean, it's the wilderness!  Nobody's going to care in the wilderness!

Just make sure you don't nudge the canadian border line.
