I am not sure I can hang in there till next Tuesday.
Sorry I have a common sense issue with our politicians and it peaks every 4 years.... I think it was during a presidential campaign that Elvis was rumoured to have pulled out a gun and shot a hole in his TV while watching campaign ads. Well after all the campaign ads pointing out the other guy is lying about the lies he said about the other guy who was lying about the lies he told, I can understand his frustration.. Ok maybe thats not what happened but hey, if its ok for them to throw cow manure on my side of the fence and expect me to beleive it then I should be able to embelish the truth a little bit too. At the risk of sounding unAmerican in my opinion if you beleive 1/10th of what is said nobody should vote for anyone as none of them are worthy of the time it takes for anyone to stand in that little booth and vote. And yes I am going to go vote anyway... I want to start a grass root movement whereby in all future elections presidential candidates get 4 hours of air time per presidential candidate two weeks before the election, then the week of the election each gets 1 hour. That's it, NO MORE! For Candidates running for governor cut the time in half because they are obviously only half as important as presidental candidates and if they are running for congress cut it in half again. Then as an incentive to win after the elections the loosers and their supporters have to go pick up all the yard signs belonging to them and their opponents within 1 week of the elections ending. Each candidate will still be expected to raise as much money as possible and as a consolation to the looser and within 60 days after the election the excess 50 or 60 Million can be spent to feed, house & cloth the poor with the loser getting the acknowledgement for the humanitarian donation. This would be a win/win situation for everyone. The candidates would spend less time away from their families and have to use their air time more wisely which means less attack ads and more good solid "this is what I plan on doing" ads and it helps to eliminate the "one with the most money to advertise wins" issue. They would also have a REAL incentive to win cause pulling yard signs is a pain and degrading. The looser would benefit knowing the time they invested went to help the poor. The voters wouldn't hate them all by election day and they might actually remember what each candidate stood for since it would be fresh in their minds, I don't know about you but after the first few weeks of campaigning I ignore what is being said, I have a wife and kids so I learned a long time ago about selective hearing just to survive. The poor would think all politicians are great because they just helped them get a place to sleep, a hot meal and some new winter duds. A spin off benefit would be there would likely be less yard signs and they wouldn't linger for months after the election. Now I know you would need to "introduce" candidates to the public so folks knew who they were. For presidential candidates due it a few months before the election, televised by having both Candidates standing in front of the white house and give their names, qualifications and limit it to 5 minutes per candidate and the candidates don't get to talk. For folks running for governor it is done on the steps of the capitol and as for those running for the senate and such again do it on the capital steps. This should substantially reduce the time wasted on and improve the content of the ads. It will benefits society in general by helping the poor and the general public won't be looking forward for 4 months to the election just to get the ads to stop. Sorry just had to vent! DonT |

This is the world we live in. We are such drive thru society! We have no attention span!
How many of us delve into issues? We are responsible for putting these people in office! Some vote strictly along party lines, and some vote on issues and performance of the office holder.....I can not imagine the $$ that is spent. I bet half the mail I have gotten in the last week was propaganda! |

That is ok... I heard an ad on the radio today that said "Franken is the only candidate running in any federal election that was against bailing out wall street CEOs." Seriously... wtf. So, the "No" vote by Michelle Bachman does not count, eh? she has been raked over the coals too by the lunatics in the media and on the democrats side. |

That's funny, I was listening to one of the senate debates on the radio, and Franken said he would have voted for the bail out. Dean Barkley was against it, and we know where Coleman stands. |
