On the radio, they were talking about Target buying the naming rights, and the gal just said "Why don't they call it Taxpayer's Field?" Tell you what, THAT would be one heck of an FU to the concept. If I was a legislator, I'd have been tempted to sign on under that condition. "You want the state to fund a new stadium? Well, let's talk about the name..." |
Yea, the Excel is about as good as it gets for taxpayer funded stadiums (private would be better though.) The Wild use it a majority of the year, MN Swarm, high school and college hockey use it. Concerts and circuses seems to take up the rest of the time. An open air stadium will get used for nothing when the home team isn't playing. |
