I will be hunting in Minnesota in October and was
wondering if I can bring along a handgun for carry.
I will be flying in. Is there open carry in your state
or is somekind of permit needed?TIA

Yep, need a permit.

WI is open carry, but..well, that entails the usual LEO escort and search service.

You can bring one up here, but just can't carry.

So far as I know MN does not issue out-of-state CCW.

You should go to the DNR website and read up on the regs.  I believe you can carry while hunting in the woods, but otherwise, you'll need a permit, even for open carry.

You should try some of those CCI .45 ACP shotshells and let me know how they work on grouse!!!

I bought some when camping up north in Chippewa National Forest, and I discovered that they work quite well on snakes at close range, but I don't think I'd try them on anything else...  Obviously out of a 4.25" barrel they don't pattern too well.

I don't carry for grouse.  It's loaded with xm1911.  Lots of bears and stuff where I go.
