Just closed on the house! Now I need to hit Home Depot (or Lowes)...bleh, they need to sell like a 'new home buyer's pack' or something...includes garbage cans, mail boxes, hoses, sprinklers, lawnmowers, vacuums, etc etc etc... (No, I have nothign in my old apt back in Joisey, except my computers and some desks...and a futon...and a tiny dresser...that's about it...oh, and a tv.) If anyone's looking for a new place or anything, btw, I cannot recommend enough Marty Siegel. I literally first walked into his office in the 2nd week of May, I think it was..(maybe it was the first week?). Today, I closed. Dunno if that's normal for up here or not, but I know back in NY, forget it in a time frame like that. Once I get everything set up, ARFCom housewarming party invites will be duly sent out |

So, there I am at Home Depot... Garage/outside broom, inside broom, mop, 2 shower rods and curtains and sets of rings, two fire extinguishers (one for the garage, one for the kitchen)....a big outside garbage can, 100' of hose, a coil thingie to roll it up on, and a sprinkler. Oh, and a big jug of Simple Green. Checkout lady: "Hrmph. You must be moving." Me: ![]() |

You forgot.. NEW LOCKS FOR The doors and ![]() and hammer, screwdrivers, cordless drill/driver ,tape measure(dinner picts. you know), some small nails for hanging things. Most likely you will need to make 3 more trips back for more things. You going to make it to the 3gun shoot in Holmen tomorrow? www.wisconsinshooters.com/3gun.htm or not. I know how mooving can be, Will see you at one later tho right? |
Oh yah, none of that's forgotten I'm also trying not to duplicate what I already have (well, too much)...most of my crap is back in Joisey/NY. Though, I suppose a man can't have too many power drills, hammers, screwdriver and socket sets, tape measures, etc.... Somehow, though, I think a mattress/bed should be high on my priority list as well.. ![]()
Didn't even know about it...couldn't anyway (no shotgun here But hell yes. Once I get in and settled and pick myself up the appropriate arms (and learn 'em)...I'm all for learning how to actually use them effectivly. |

m-dc, thanks! At the moment I'm getting the necessities...but if I need anything, I'll hit ya up dpmmn, I've got maybe, maybe a half acre...on a hill and all that. Honestly I don't think I'll need a riding mower...but I'm sure I'll change my mind after the first time I mow the lawn. Right now it's all sod, so I gotta water it like there's no tomorrow at the moment. Can't even probalby cut it until week after next...assuming it survives this freakish weather... twonami, I don't even have plates, knifes and forks, or even a chair yet Man, this house shopping thing is EXPENSIVE! I went into Home Depot and Target to pick up a bunch of stuff I know I'll need...damn bill came out to almost $800, all told Ah well...now to finish moving my crap out of the corp apartment, pick up some MORE things at HD and Target, and settle in... |

Amateur. My wife and I bought our house shortly before getting married in 2000. We both came from apartments. I spent $1200.00 a month from June to September at Home Depot, and I still don't own a lawn mower... Congratulations. |
