I was at Bills the other day, and the guy working told me that something was going to be put in place that would prevent getting things after the AWB expires. Is this true? Will you be able to get Hi Cap mags? thanks CINcerly, Nick |
firearms rule #1: Keep muzzle pointed in a safe direction. firearms rule #2: Never believe anything you hear at a gun shop. They don't know anymore more about the laws than you do. |
+1 for full capacity |
Your question is kind of hard to answer. There are 3 types of mags out there 1) ones made before 1994 2) ones made after 1994, but only hold 10rds 3) ones made after 1994, but hold more than 10rds and are marked "L.E.O." [LEO=Law Enforcement Only] After Sept 13, you can get whatever you want. (unless you live in CA, MA, or NJ) Now, that being said, not every manufacturer will provide hicap mags. Ones that have already mentioned that they WILL market to average citizens: Metalform Mecgar Promag Tripple K Wilson Combat New Weapons Systems (distributors for Beta-C mags) There were rumors that Glock and Ruger and SIG would NOT market mags with more than 10rds to anyone other than LEOs. I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. Glock will continue to offer hicap mags with LEO printed on them, but, that is about all I know. Again, I think that this is because certain states allow officers to carry hicap, but, not law abiding citizens. [Remember, criminals don't obey the law...that is why they are called CRIMINALS!!!] I called Springfield and they said they would make base plates for all their mags with different lettering on them. They plan to ship only 10rd mags until the end of the year, but, make hi-cap mags available for purchase online or through catalogs and distributors. (again, cuz of CA, MA, and NJ laws) Does that mean that some limp writsted liberal republican (such as the useless and ignorant Ramstad) won't try and get it pushed through? I'm sure there will be attempts. But, from the looks of the congressional calendar, there will be no renewal for the Clinton Gun Ban. (It aint on the calendar and there are no bills out of committee in the house, and nothing on the senate) I have been talking to the jokers over at Gunstop, and they are all waiting till Sept. 13 to see what happens. IMHO, if there is nothing on the floor of either house or senate by Aug. 31s, the bill will die "quietly". http://www.awbansunset.com/ |
I've always wonderd, if companies like Triple-K, USA, etc, ever really stopped making standard cap mags, judging by the number of new ones places like Sportman's Guide keep coming up with.
And how do they think they are going to stop that? I'm sure they'll "leak" out to the general public in short order. Beretta is including a coupon with their 92s that you can redeem for two 15 rounders when the ban sunsets. I've never liked Glock's for some reason, but after firing Sully's a few times up at Princeton, I'm starting to like them, it would be a shame if I couldn't get standard cap mags.... |
Its for CA. There is a 10rd cap limit in all firearms. (except lever action or gravity feed) If you get caught with a hicap in CA, you is done. That state is f*cked anyhow.
This is news to me...good to hear though. Again, I qualified my statement wrt to the austrian mfgr.
The question will soon be (provided nothing happens between now and Sept 13th) who will make the best aftermarket mag. I would bet money that mecgar (whom I prefer for my 1911s) jumps in and starts selling mags. Replacement/remanufactured 10rd conversion kits to hold 17rds (for the Glock 17) will likely be common place. Just cause a mfgr doesn't want it to happen doesn't mean it wont. I am waiting to see what happens with Ruger and its P89 and if they go on sale again this fall like they did last fall. -Warlock |
