Hello Fellow Minnesotans!  For those of you with CCW permits, I wanted to ask you about possible concerns with your "cover" garments.

As I've been sitting in classes all day long at the University, I realized that my untucked flannel shirt kept riding up my hip whenever I shift around or slouch in my chair a lot.  Then I began thinking this could be a possible problem if I were carrying with a different holster (not IWB)...  Exposing your firearm would not be a good thing.

Do you guys ever go through part of your day and notice possible problems with this?

Edited to add:

I WAS NOT CARRYING A FIREARM on campus...  Just thinking of what possible cover concerns could arise.

Well...  I technically was carrying my new 1911A1 in my backpack.  Then I pulled it out in my speech class today, and three of the students sort-of freaked a bit... (one grabbed her cell phone as she didn't notice the little orange plastic tip until I pointed out to the class that it was a toy and to put their cell phones away)

You'll REALLY like my new 1911A1, it's a Tangfolio Witness 1911A1 that fires 6mm ammunition!

(Airsoft Spring/Air Pistol)

This was for a firearm safety informative speech in front of many college students.  Several of them told me they liked the speech, and thought it was very informative.  I think it all went very well.

Sully, thanks again for the link to that place to buy the training aid (pistol).  I appreciate your help with that.

I've noticed similar problems with cover garments.  I've made some changes to try to minimize unwanted exposure.

Some fast food places have booths which seem to grab clothes when sliding in and out. I now sit in chairs or sit on the outside edge of booth so there's no sliding.

I always reach with my left hand when I take things off of store shelves. Using my right hand my shirt will pull up and sometime uncover the muzzle of my 1911. Even if the gun isn't uncovered, sometimes the shirt will catch on the grip, making it obvious I have something on my hip.

With only a couple of exceptions, I've carried every day since I picked up my CCW last July. I'm pretty sure my gun was either visible or I printed twice early on. Both times I was talking to people and their eyes kept glancing down to my right side. Each time I had just reached for something with my right hand.

I sometimes carry my H&K USP .45F, front pocket of jeans with grip hanging out.
Or I'll run with it tucked in the front of my pants with a T-shirt pulled behind it to give it the "cool thug" look.

Or if I'm just plain lazy, I'll throw it in my back pocket.   I figure my pants pocket will be a good enough "cover" garment.

BTW,.. Safetys are for losers that don't know how to handle a pistol.

My first suggestion is to go to www.packing.org.

For daily carry, I recommend something light and small.

I really like the kel-tec P-3AT. (380 auto)
Their P-32 is a bit smaller, but, you step down to a 32auto. (use hollowpoints from corbon)

You can get "wallets" for them that fit your back pocket and put a spare clip inside your sock or another pocket.
