| I'm trying to get myself ready to go after I get out of the Army at the end of the year, does anyone have any experience or know anyone in the security contracting field? Looking at some classes to take in personal protection to give me a little bit of an edge as far as getting in, any ideas? |

Hate to say it, but you might want to come up with "Plan B".
1 - Significant amount of contract work has gone, or is going away, so the number of available jobs is dropping off significantly. 2 - Large number of Mil vets getting out of service, so the number of people looking for work is increasing, especially given the economy. 3 - Some Vets getting out have very significant resumes (Spec Ops, Multiple Combat Tours, Security Clearance, etc), so unless you can match them, then it is hard to compete. I now people working for companies like Dynacorp and Triple Canopy, and they are all well qualified way beyond what an "average Joe" is. One of those guys went from picking assignments, to taking whatever he could get, to not having worked for about the last 6 months. If you have skills beyond being an 11B, then drop me a line and I can get you some contacts to try and work with. Best of Luck, M Richardson |
