I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee, 66,000 miles. AC won't hold charge, used super seal, no luck. They say getting at the evaporator coil requires the entire dash to be taken out. I need someone in the Lexington vicinity that does excellent work. Does anyone hear know of a person they trust for something this detailed? Freedom Dodge is my only option right now. I don't know much about their reputation.

You can always take it to a shop that does AC work, have them get the Freon sniffer out to determine where the leak is and pay the diagnostic fee. That way you'll know what your dealing with, it may not be the evaporator. If it is, you'll at least know for sure. I have to yank the heater box out from under the dash of my Dakota since it DOES have a busted evaporator. Word is the Modine replacements from NAPA are better than the factory units so that's what I'm putting in along with a heater core just to play it safe.

Thanks Scottmon, I guess I will take it to Freedom Dodge in Lexington and get them to find the leak like you said. I don't know any AC auto specialist around the Danville area. I know for the evaporator coil in my jeep to be replaced , the entire dash has to be removed and I just don't want it to be FUBAR'd by someone who has never done that type of work, if it is the evaporator coil.
