Please only respond if you are Leo or absolutely know.
If some one were to have sold some prescription meds, some time ago. Then not having any history or related charges. This person is considering applying for a position on the department. Can they be charged or have any troubles by declaring the info on the application? |

1) I'm not a LEO but am familiar with KY law in many criminal charges 2) What are you asking? You'll need to add more details because your sentences hurt my head. Are you asking if someone sold Rx drugs in the past but never got caught doing so, will that hurt them getting on with a law enforcement agency in KY? Also, you would have to be dumb to volunteer that information on an application for a law enforcement agency, or any job for that matter. Especially if you were never charged with doing that type of crime. |

Need more info.
You sold and didn't get caught? You sold got caught then had the charges dissmissed? You sold and think you are going to bypass the lie detector? Applying for Jefferson County Sheriffs? If so kill your account here, or you might as well stop the process. Just a heads up. Don't waste your time now that you wrote it on the internet. |
| First, I didn't say it was me who did this. The person in question has sold rx to some people I know and has made major attempts to change their lifestyle to get away from things like that. From what I do know it was never a continuous deal. They had done so to help pay a few bills and wasn't much. Still did the deed was done and that's what counts I guess. They wanted to try and make a better life, and had asked me to help look into this matter. I had said that I thought there was a lie detector and if they lied could kiss their hopes bye bye. I guess they are s.o.l. on this deal then. |

I highly, highly doubt that any charges would be brought upon your friend, as long as it wasent recent or large quantities. but if he prepares to lie on the application expecially about trafficking narcotics, then maybe he needs to find another career path. |
| Basically what I was telling him. I figure honesty would be best if it was possible for him to do so. I know it isn't the best thing to see on someone's application, but if you declare that you are gonna be up front and show you want to be truthful would be the right thing. I still don't know what to tell him yet. I would hate to see him take a charge for being honest about it, even though it was stupid first off. |
| Intergrity up front, for 1 that is a question on the background packet, and will be followed up during the poly test. 2 for majority of it is not what you have done, but if your honest about it. If your friend cannot be honest about himself and his past during the hiring process he won't be an honest LEO. |

I am a Sheriff Deputy in a small county in E. Ky In Eastern Ky it woul dnot disqulaify you in fact we have Sheriff's and chiefs of police who have done jail time themselves. There are enough dead beats adn vote sellers in E ky for these people to get elected and in turn they hire the same sort of people as deputies and policemen.
As far as in other parts of the state I would in no way mention this. It would be an automatic disqualifier even though I am a firm believer that one can turn their lfe around. Unfortunately most people are not. Living in E Ky everyone has someone in their famiily who has sold drugs or done drugs so maybe we have a more understanding view but from what I have heard from family memebers and friends who are mebers of departments in Lousiville and Northern KY i would in no way mention if I had done this. I would just pray it did not come up on a lie detector or a back ground check. I woul dno worry about charges becuase there is no physical evidence and from what it sounds like it has been years. |
