The folks I know having the best luck finding work like that are in Lexington.

I am in Maysville and the manufacturing jobs here have picked back up some but are still fairly spotty.

Most of the folks I know around Ashland are not in manufacturing so I have no idea what that job market is like there.

I do know they have monthly USPSA and IDPA matches at the Ashland Gun Club Pistol Division.  I go shoot there sometimes.

There are close to zero manufacturing jobs in the Ashland area.

On the other hand Ashland Gun Club Pistol Division is full of great people.

How about Huntington, WV for jobs?

You better have a skill to find anything good around the area. Some of the plants will hire an electrician or such at times, but entry level labor is all but non-existent.

I grew-up about 12 miles from Ashland and my parents still live there. Seems to me you better be in a medical field if you want to live in the Ashland area and have a good job. Armco (AK) Steel... mostly dead. C&O car yard... mostly dead.
I would look around Lexington/Louisville/Cincy if I was you.

This makes me sad. I also grew up in Ashland, but have retired from the Army in Oklahoma. My Dad worked at Armco, Grandfather at C&O(or was it B&O?). Ashland Oil was around. Hell, most guys went straight from High School into plant work.

I have been getting the itch to move "home" lately. I miss the trees, mountains, etc. I never thought that I would.
