I'm giddy as a schoolgirl!! I just looked and S.C. now recognizes our permits.

I didn't think SLED would ever recognize KY because we don't do fingerprints.

This pic makes me happy.  I'd love to see Nebraska, Iowa, Nevada, Oregon, and Washington added as well.  That would only leave the bastions of liberalism that will probably never recognize our rights.  I avoid those states like the plague anyway.

Guys...I tell this to every class I teach

The reciprocity states can change from week to week...it is always wise to call ahead to each state that you will be travelling to and through...get the name of the person you spoke to and document date, time, agency...preferably that states lead LE agency, and Officer.

Always CYA...it never pays to think you are covered.

The date on the map says 1998

You should be able to get a recent reciprocity sheet/chart on DOCJTs website.

Also, it pays to find out about any differences in CCDW law.  Even though they recognize your permit, rules on where and how you can carry, as well as requirements for LEO encounters and so forth will vary.

Just as an example, I travel to Ohio a lot, and even though they've recognized KY permits for a long time, it wasn't until last year that you could conceal in your car.  In the car you had to open carry.  Making a mistake over little things like that have the potential to ruin your day.  It would really suck to have a speeding ticket turn into a weapons charge because you are not familiar with the laws where you are.

I am sending Jane a copy of the link for this...I just went to Instructor Trainer class in Richmond...they were completely unaware that SC was reciprocity now...they said they had not heard it, but were excited noon the less.

Thanks for the info guys....
