Wife was walking to the mail box to mail some bills tonight at 8:30 pm. Some jackass  slams on his brakes and wheels in the road beside my house and shuts off the lights and gets out of the truck and walks up to the fence and started staring at my wife. Not saying a word to her. She walked swiftly to the house and told me what was going on. I walk out the door with my glock behind me not knowing what to expect. The guy still standing 50 yards from my house just staring. ?????  I asked if their was a problem, he just stood there.. so I politely let him see my glock and the dumb ass still stood there. I walked in his direction, he got in his truck and spun out in a big hurry. I got in the car just to see where he was going, while calling a Sheriff (friend) I described the truck and license plate. He then said stay with him with in reason. He soon arrived and come to find out this guy lives 1/2 mile from me.  He has been in prison for a total of 5 years for burglary and other miscellaneous charges. When the Sheriff questioned him of his business he lied about ever being at my home. He also told me to keep an eye on him. this is just great!  Sheriff said if he shows up again to call and run him off with what ever but don't shoot unless he is in my home. I knew this. This is all I need.

Question  should I approach him my self, or just wait?

What would you do????

   Sounds hairyht
First off, your Glock really didnt do too much good for your wife did it?

This kinda shit goes on all the time with worse endings, talk to your wife if she doesnt carry, pretty sure after the creep show she will understand.

When did the sheriff get there to help you out?Put a Glock in your wifes pocket with the knowledge to retreat at all possibilities, remind her that her husband may not be there next time.

Find out if he is on probation or parole. If so, call his probation officer. Try to find out more about him and his past criminal record (beside the burglary charges). Don't directly confront him, this could be viewed as you being the aggressor if it came to physical confrontation. Just remember  to be vigilant, these type of individuals think a little different that you and I. They can be very patient and sneaky. He had a reason for doing what he did, other than just looking at your wife. It might not be a bad ideal to do a little target practice with your wife at your house if local zoning doesn't prohibit it.

Smalljaw  First off to stare is one thing to approach my house is another!  Yes my wife does carry and she is very proficient as well. He will get a big surprise with her Kimber ultra 45.

mgpatty    sheriff told me his past record. And am contacting about his probation and or parole.
"He had a reason for doing what he did, other than just looking at your wife." yea I have a feeling I'll see him again. The good thing is when we bought our home it was setup with surveillance cams and inside security.

We will see what happens.

He is up to something. Be very careful. He most likely is testing to see if anyone would confront him. He knows you have guns now and might watch your house to try and steal. It sounds like you have good security. So hopefully he will move on to a easier target. Again just keep your guard up, as should your wife.

Sorry if i came off a little harsh, didn't mean it that way.I would be very concerned sounds like this freak was hopped up on something.

Sucks that anymore a person can't even walk to the mailbox, maybe he will return to a more confined neighborhood real soon.

Not a prob, It's just no one F$%#s with my mom, daughter or wife. Talked with the Chief of Police here and he is going to check in to this guy. It's nice to live in a small town when your family knows the Chief personally! Everyone in the neighborhood knows now what is going on. Some elderly folks live around here. Have to look out for them as well.

Is he on parole or probation? If so, it would be bad for him if someone called in a tip that he was in possession of drugs or other contraband. It would be even worse for him if the tipster knew for sure that said drugs would be there when the cops or PO searched.

Well seems he tried to strike again. There was 2 attempted breaks in last night on Lesturner road Cave City and the other 1 mile from my home. And someone down the road called in there dogs were barking as someone ran through there back yard. They did not get a good look at the person. Coincidence I think not!

Anyone in the Cave City area IM me and I will give you the name of the the person who is in suspect of this.

Sounds like you might have scared him away from trying anything at your place.  If he attempts a break in it will probably be while you aren't home. It's a lot safer and easier for him to steal the guns than to break into a home with an armed homeowner there. Good luck and stay safe!

Agreed.  He knows you have guns now.  If you don't have a safe, you should invest in one soon.  I would pretty pissed if someone stole my stuff and the thought of them watching my tv in their lair would just make me sick.  If they stole my guns and used them in another buglary I would be devestated and more than mad.  I can live with them stealing cash (don't get me wrong I would still be angry), but to steal the guns knowing I could prevent it would just haunt me for life.

If he tries to break in to your house, it will most likely be when you aren't home.

Edit:  One more thing ... don't put mail (especially bills) in your mailbox.  Put it in a dropbox at the post office.  Also be careful about putting your trash out.  Put the trash out the morning of, and not the night before.  He could also be into indetity theft as well as burglarly.  Just be vigilant on protecting yourself over the next couple of weeks.
