One of my students just received a phone call from Enfield PD. They told him they need to schedule an in-home interview before giving him his temp permit. She needs to come into his home first, then check with the neighbors to see if they have any problems with him. He replied he doesn't want them knowing he owns guns (theft ect). She replied "she won't give them his name". Looking into options on how best to proceed.Eta: She wants to show up tomorrow |

Eta: She wants to show up tomorrow I would refuse the in home interview and notification of neighbors, restate what is required by law and see how they want to proceed. I would also contact ccdl and be ready to start the appeal process.... I wouldn't care about the wait time. |

Thanks guys, putting him in touch with the guy that handles permit issues at CCDL and Rich at CT Carry. He does NOT want neighbors to know he owns guns. Very concerned with theft and the new gun restraining order baloney. Also may put him in touch with Rachel Baird due to that being her law wheelhouse. Which CT statue outlines what is required? |

My dad and two friends went through this when they got their pistol permit in Enfield. The case of my father they interviewed my mother and three neighbors I believe .As far as I know his name was never mentioned.
ETA: my buddy had a loitering charge on his record that he totally forgot about. The Enfield cops question him about that. He still got his permit but they told him that it was on his record. Good old days of hanging out at the food mart parking lot |

Being a resident of Enfield, I'm going to guess she signed the extra form allowing EPD to visit her neighbors and employers.
As for the interview, I had a sit down at the station with a detective. I didn't know that was also extra. I would have refused that interview as I had the extra EPD form. Durning my interview, the detective was asking me about my neighbors. I played stupid. I warned my neighbors about a possible visit. They reported no cops made contact with them. |

That's bullshit.
Good luck. I'd appeal it. I wouldn't want my neighbors to know I have guns. Even though they already do because I do yard work open carrying... But that's besides the fact. Keep us updated how it turns out. This interests me and probably others. |
