Legal in this state?  The part of the law that talks about any stock/ grip with the trigger finger below the action is confusing me..

Yes any semiautomatic detachable magazine rifle where the pistol grip is not "directly below" the action of the weapon is legal. In the case of the Socom 16 (if it has a pistol grip) the grip is not directly below the action of the weapon, it is behind it.

Now keep in mind that even though the pistol grip on a Socom 16 is legal having the pistol grip with a collapsible stock may not be legal if that pistol grip "protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon". The solution in that instance, in order to keep the pistol grip, is to pin the collapsible stock. Same hold true if one has a pistol grip and a threaded barrel and or flash hider. One would have to remove the flash hider (ie use a muzzle brake and pin it in place) in order to keep the pistol grip, if that pistol grip "protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon".

OP indicated they were confused by the law. Yes, Bikerman is answer is correct but also one single word. My reply includes (in quotes) the exact two words of the law to help clear up the OP's possible confusion on the law.

Because the Socom 16 with pistol grip may also come with a 5 position stock that would have to be pinned, else it could be a single evil feature that bans the rifle.

As far as I know Springfield believes that the CQB is not CT compliant.

The SOCOM is good to go.

Ketchup is legal on any detachable-bun hot dog less than 10 inches in length and composed of more than 30% pork, provided that there are not seeds on the bun. If the bun has sesame seeds and you put ketchup on it, you've created a dangerous assault hot dog.

Not legal in a high capacity bottle.

Catsup packets must not be linked together more than 10 in a row

Ketchup on a hotdog? Every one knows ketchup goes on burgers, mustard goes on hot dogs and mayo goes in the garbage.

Obviously a condiment bigot!  Embrace diversity, and let the mustard, mayo, and ketchup flow together freely!

You shall only have ketchup and mustard on a hotdog when there is relish involved.

Checked out the Socom when it first came out. Too heavy and bulky. Anybody thinks this rifle could do CQB work is nuts. And now with the fact it could only hold 10 rounds. Doesn't make sense.

What about the reverse argument ?

Since I can only have 10 rounds, wouldn't it be better to have bigger bullets?

I think an AR with ten round Mag sucks.

SKS, M1 Garand , Mossberg 599, Glock 21.

If one doesn't already have (declared) standard capacity AR magazines, then yes being limited to 10 round magazines would suck.
