Just a few of the past threads... http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/590807_ARES_SCR_lower.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/573631_Ares.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/569859_Has_an_Ares_SCR_ever_been_on_a_shelf_in_CT_.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/564495_Ares_SCR_____AR_15ish_Rifle.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/556328_Ares_SCR.html http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/565476_Ares_scr_in_stock_.html |
| Also the reason it passes is because it is not a copy or duplicate of an AR-15 and because SLFU's opinion is that a palm swell stock is not; "Any grip of the weapon, including a pistol grip, a thumbhole stock, or any other stock, the use of which would allow an individual to grip the weapon, resulting in any finger on the trigger hand in addition to the trigger finger being directly below any portion of the action of the weapon when firing" even though the rat tail of the BCG on the Ares SCR goes down into the stock and would be directly above the fingers of the trigger hand. |

Then if that's their opinion, shouldn't the new Keltec RFB-C have to be approved? It's not thumbhole like a p90 |

Then if that's their opinion, shouldn't the new Keltec RFB-C have to be approved? It's not thumbhole like a p90 There is some prior discussion on the Kel Tec RDB-C in an earlier thread: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_8_26/594570_Kel_Tec_RDB_C_another_CT_semi_auto_option_that_takes_AR_mags_.html If the overall length is under 30 inches then it wouldn't be CT legal. No matter what Kel Tec marking says we won't know for certain if its CT legal or not if SLFU doesn't give an official determination of the rifle and SFLU is often reluctant to OK rifles. Keep in mind there is nothing in the statute that OK's the "palm swell" grip or says their illegal, rather that is solely an SLFU opinion. The problem with many Bull Pup designs is the action of the weapon often runs both forward and behind the "grip" of the weapon which often results in the fingers of the trigger hand being directly below the action of the weapon. And the language used for the "grip" evil feature is open ended and could be construed to include "palm swell" style grips/stocks. |

C-Man, are you serious? I just mean you are a regular here, and can't imagine you have missed all the talk! But if you are serious, there is a version 2.0 that is a bit better then what is posted on the Ares Website. I can't seem to find any info on the v2. What's the difference? |
| Until and unless the pre ban statute is repealed, for the love of Sweet Baby Jesus just buy a lower. Yep, it's going to cost more overall but it will be much more effective as a carbine. If a ban comes, then it's whatever you can get. That thing and others that try to be like it look like they were designed and made in Afghani mountain caves during air strikes. We're not quite there yet. |

Beside a better trigger, there are sights and a muzzlebreak installed.

We're not quite there yet. Sage advise, nothing beats the AR platform. However, if you cruise the other HTFs, there are a good number of people who live in free states, that are interested in this rifle too. Some prefer the more "classic" lines of the SCR, and others just like the looks of it. As far as it's merits here in Konnecticut, there are a couple more. 1) With this rifle, you get much of the advantages of the AR, but at a much lower cost then a pre-ban. Lowers have been creeping (some say leaping) up in price, and this rifle can be had for the same or less for the cost of just a lower. To some people, that makes a big difference. 2) While still having a very serviceable rifle, you avoid all the AW restrictions on transportation and possession. It is just a "normal" rifle. I would much prefer a regular AR, but would not rule this platform out because it is contorted to pass the ban. I wonder if the over-effective muzzle break has been made to A2 flashider dimensions? Then the QD suppressors would fit! Ares should make a version in .308. I bet that would sell quite well, especially since pre-ban .308s are VERY expensive and rare. |

Since this is a "normal" rifle and not an AW you can buy it out of state legally.
My personal preference is for a normal AR. Cabinetman's question was "is it legal, not should I buy it". So for now I will have deal with the BS this state has put us through. I continue to donate to NRA and CCDL in hopes of a win for our side. The search engine on this site is horrible. I can rarely find what I know exists.
