Yesterday I went to change out a muzzle device.  I knew that it would be a bear because I used Rocksett and torqued it on to manufacturer specs.  I took one off on a different set up before and it wasn't much of a problem.  However, this one I put on right.

The issue I have is:

A.) The Rocksett is a beast.  I soaked it in water like I did last time (which I hate to do BTW).  Something about sticking metal in water really bothers me, especially when it's your barrel.
B.) My vise blocks suck (I have 3 different ones)  Once I start to apply some decent torque to try and break it free the barrel just starts to spin in the vise.

I was thinking about taking it to JoJo's but I don't know if they have any issue with MD's on registered AW's.

Try using a Geiselle reaction rod when loosening.

Heat is your friend in regards to loosening up items with loctite or rock set - heat may damage finish

Think I could get away with a heat gun as opposed to a torche?

Don't go until it's cherry!

I have only watched my smith do it so I can't really say! He did it for maybe a minute, moved the torch around constantly. I would just have it done by someone professionally

Thanks Nutter,  was thinking about going to JoJo's.  I figure I'd have them put the new brake on while they are at it.  My vise blows and it just spins..

While I think you could do it fairly easy, I think if you fucked up the finish you will end up being pissed at your self
