I'll be picking up a new 10/22 Takedown on Sunday afternoon. With the new laws, am I able to attach an angled foregrip to this semi-auto, detachable mag rifle? Fairly certain the answer is no, but I'm not sure.
Thanks Steve |

CT "is this legal" thread and helpful links thread stickied at the top of this forum. Because its rimfire its subject to the pre 4/4/13 laws. Now is an angled foregrip seen as a "pistol grip" by the state with respect to the old law? Don't know. But unlike the law(s) enacted post 4/4/13 the older law doesn't specifically define what a "pistol grip" is. Does the current law's definition of a pistol grip apply to the pre 4/4/13 law? Don't know. If you do not have any of the features listed from the old law on the 10/22 then your definitely good to go adding a an angled foregrip. If your 10/22 has a pistol grip or any other single evil feature from the old law then who knows. Under a technical reading of the law this might be a slightly gray area depending on one's interpretation of the old and new statute's language. 1994 ASSAULT WEAPON CRITERIA Semiautomatic Rifle Features List 1) A folding or telescoping stock 2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon 3) A bayonet mount 4) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor 5) A grenade launcher |
