Just a heads up and it has been discussed here before.  I know beggars can be choosers here in CT and on its face it is a pretty neat rifle but.....

....unless things have changed DRASTICALLY, they are hard to keep running if they run at all.  The earliest ones had some USGI parts in them but when that well was dry, they reverted to their own new parts.

I had to essentially gut mine and that was years ago.  USGI parts are VERY expensive now.  I even had to replace the front sight because they installed the wrong height causing me to run out of elevation way too soon.  To be fair, SA had excellent customer service but I would prefer a product that work out of the box.  I am sure there are people out there who have had no problems at all and the newest ones might run great but I just wanted you to know.

Thanks for the heads up, I've been wanting this rifle for a while now and been researching online and my conclusion is this:

1.There are more happy owners than dissatisfied.
2. All the problems were in the first few years of production.
3. A lot of the problems seem to happen when commercial 308 was used instead of mil. Surplus 7.62
4. Hiccock45 like it so much he did two videos on it so it has to be good.

So I'll cross my fingers and hope the problems have been fixed cause that's a lot of money to waste on something that doesn't work.

I have a Scout Squad and have not had any problems with it.  I have shot a few hundred rounds through it and have not had a malfunction.  The sights on the Socom are different from the Scout Squad though.

I did replace the black plastic stock with a GI surplus walnut with a turner sling.  I would put a flash hider on it as well if I could, stupid law.

I have the SOCOM II.  Other then the dead tritium front sight, I've had no problems.
