I've been averting this project for about 2yrs now. I don't remember why I only got 1 filter, back when I bought most of the supplies. I laid it out so there's enough room to add a second, later. Hopefully, now, I can stop cleaning the washer filter.

Good job man! Good thought putting the unions in  The valve in front of the filter is overkill though. You have the one at the bottom on your main right in front of it.
The one other thing that makes filter changes very easy is putting in a tap T and a drain so when you close the valves you can relieve the pressure without messing around with the filters built in pressure relief valves...they can be finicky, once you mess with them they sometimes continue leaking.  The good news is because you valved it all off it would be easy to install one later on if you wanted to.  Looks like you did a good job though, well thought out!

ETA:  did you install your boiler?  Whoever did was smart to put in that ball valve above the expansion tank

Nice pipes you got there.

How's your copper holding up with well water? My pipes were getting pin hole leaks all over the place. I just swapped out for pex and floguard

Thx guys. I did all the lines over when I bought the house. The copper just feeds tankless units then to manifolds and 1/2" pex throughout the house. The filter(s) should cut back on the sediment, greatly. What I was seeing was sediment about the size of TiteGroup flakes.

The valve before the filter is necessary so you can bypass the filter setup, if need be. It, also, has a drain cock to avoid using the filters pressure bleeder. The union on the left side has a slight leak and the Teflon tape trick didn't work. I might have to try and lap the cone.

Oh, and the only reason the baseboard is still there is because the mechanicals share the laundry room.
