I recently purchased a ea15 carbine 16.5 inch barrel….very nice…dealer states 100% pre ban…..lower receiver has only 4 digits and armalite verified it as pre ban…….Im just checking to see if the rest of it is original….it has rails , so hard to see the barrel (but I can make out a MP 8 and another number through the rails)…..also on upper receiver around mag area there is a marking appears to be in the shape of an A….this mean anything to anyone or do i have to take all rails and such off?
thanks in advance |

MIne has the 9xxx serial with the coal valley address and I looked up the MP 8 on the barrel(says basically these barrel were made for eagle arms in the late 80's early 90's) so appears all original …..However no stamp at all on front of the magwell….(does that mean something/should i be worried)??
thanks again only thing i changed so far was to a magpul collapsable stock…… |

has anyone had any luck contacting the atf and getting them to trace your serial number on the eagle arms lower receiver…to tell if it left the factory as a complete rifle…because i did not get a return phone call…. any suggestions or links, etc Eagle Arms is now Armalite. You will not have any luck with the ATF doing what you describe unless you commit a federal crime with the weapon. They have zero records on that gun except for when it was made and the excise tax paid on it. After that, it all resides with the FFL('s) that sold it, and the individuals that sold it. Feds will trace it around FFL's but that doesn't determine anything, and they will not do it unless they are trying to send you to Club Gitmo with a host of other charges. Armalite might be able to help, but if it was a receiver or complete rifle is not relevant to CT's AWB past or present. Preban is preban. And your lower is pre ban. The old notion that it had to be a complete rifle before the ban was wording in the old federal ban, which had sunset in 2004 and is no longer applicable. I don't know how much more we can tell you that provided you use and store that rifle or lower lawfully, nobody can do anything to you. A letter from Armalite isn't going to stop a cop if you get in a jam. It may sway a judge, but if you got to that point, you probably did something to earn the visit and an AW charge is the least of your worries. In other words, it's pre ban. Enjoy it. |
