As the law stands today this seems to be legal but I just wanted to double check:
http://www.ruger.com/products/1022Takedown/specSheets/11112.html It seems the flash suppressor is the only evil feature? (A) A semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at lease two of the following: (i) A folding or telescoping stock; (ii) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) A bayonet mount; (iv) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; and (v) A grenade launcher; or |

Yep it's legal!
Quoted:
It would still be legal even with the reduction to one evil feature that has been proposed because it does not have a pistol grip. No, if detachable magazines are counted as a feature (as in proposed legislation) then it will not be legal with threaded barrel. |

No, if detachable magazines are counted as a feature (as in proposed legislation) then it will not be legal with threaded barrel. That's if they count the detachable magazine as a feature. However, currently and in 1076 the detachable magazine is not counted as a single evil feature. (5) Any semiautomatic firearm that meets the following criteria:
(A) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (i) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (ii) A thumbhole stock; (iii) A folding or telescoping stock; (iv) A grenade launcher or flare launcher; (v) A flash suppressor; or (vi) A forward pistol grip; or Edit to add: And per 1076 since the 10/22 uses rimfire ammo it would still adhere to the existing AWB language which means that the 10/22 would need to have two evil features to classify as an AW. I'm not sure if the current CT assault weapons ban would pass the test of time.
After the DC vs. Heller supreme court ruling, I think any new laws imposed as well as the currently in place laws should be challenged. I believe the ruling stated firearms protected are those in common use. We will see |
