| Hey guys - I have an opportunity to transfer to the NYC office. I'd entertain it if I can live in CT and commute. Anyone doing this commute or have done it, any tips? I checked out mta.info and the schedules, stations and transit times. What are some good areas to look for apartment/house rental? Do I need to consider which towns are more apt to grant a carry permit then others (like MA)? |

If you already have a permit to carry and NRA certificate, and don't plan on moving to CT for a few months, I would recommend applying now as a non-resident. You'll avoid paying duplicate fees and avoid any awkward practices or delays and enjoy the opportunity to apply directly to CSP.
In Connecticut, we don't have varying classes of permit or restrictions like they do in Mass. Some towns do have some quirky investigative practices and reference letter requirements and may take a while to process applications- but if you're a good guy you'll get a permit here. As long as you're not in New Haven or Bridgeport, I think you should be GTG.
Even then, he'll get one. It'll just take a while. |

damn i live in wolcott and commute to manhattan, bronx, brooklyn, long island.
but i guess im different, i have driven to plattsburg ny and st albans vt just for an hour service call. the drive from fairfield county is a breeze as long as u leave early. taxes suck though. up near 84 is nicer. and 84 to 684 to saw mill will get you to west side of nyc easily. |

Is this a temp move or if you need time to find permanent housing look around candlewood lake to find off-season rental that is furnished
or any town on south western ct any thing on the long island sound side will be a premium 684 to nyc Harlem line to nyc out of Brewster Good Luck |
