Cav, can you bring back some skrimps, preferably not filled with deepwater horizon oil? I want to grill them over hardwood charcoal, wrapped in salted bacon, capers, and lime rind, then dipped in Siracha sauce, and serve them on cocktail toothpicks. |

Hey!!! Im no enviro Nazi, I drive a truck, shoot guns at trees, and burn stuff in barrels Im otherwise probably not supposed to. But I've been in the solar industry for 5 years now, and can speak of thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people in this state alone who would benefit greatly from it. Proud to say I have been a part of over 6 Mw of completely renewable, 0 emission/footprint, clean energy installations. Ill never understand people, they'll fight zoning on a 120' tall wind turbine whilst theres a 220' tall smoke stack billowing out smelly black shit all day directly next to the proposed sight. (New Haven is the most recent, to be specific) Fuckin idiots if you ask me. Hardly any turbine in the world measures 400', especially not on the east coast. Not even giant 5Mw NorthWinds planted out in the ocean, so if your going to go on some b.s anti-clean energy tirade at least check the alleged "facts" your spewing. Theres enough b.s here-say and false information out there to doom the industry for the next 20 years. Sorry if Im a little testy about it, but Ive heard just about enough bullshit arguments from people that know even less than my PM's about the subject. Fuck, most of the anti-solar people haven't even seen a panel since the 70's, and if I put two panels in front of them they couldn't tell me which one made electricity and which heated water. Ill argue with someone for 30 minutes, to have the conversation end with them asking, "Wait, whats PV?", thats about when I walk away. Are you fucking kidding me?
Every time I tell someone I work in solar, they say, "so your a plumber?" People don't even realize we make electricity with this shit, its like the industry is kept secret, so they can keep taking our money with oil. Im not the guy that runs around saying get rid of coal, I understand solar and wind are not "end alls" (yet), but they are magnificent supplements that would greatly help free us from our oppressors. You can relate SolarFarms to a hippie fest if you want, but thats down right ignorant. No less ignorant than assuming coal burning is filthy dirty bullshit like back in the 50's. If a tenth of the money that gets invested into the development of oil and coal were to be spent on the development of PV and wind, energy (AND ITS COST) would be the number one NON-ISSUE in this country. And thats a fuckin fact! I understand it is too expensive today, because it is still revered as a rogue idea and it will likely never see funding like oil and coal receive. (But mostly because of the men up top with oil in their pockets) In turn, our wallets will be powned by .gov for the rest of my life at least. But anybody who would not want one of these in their backyard is a fuckin idiot, if you ask me. So yea, my hand is raised up high, real fuckin high. Fuck you EnviroNazis? Sure, if you say so. But I have a much much much much much bigger fuck you to send out to all those fuckin ignorant idiot Americans out there, fucking up my great country with their lies soaked in self-reasoning, and their mis information bursting with ignorance... Dare I say, the egos of some are ruining the lives of most. If you wanna keep paying the steadily increasing (whatever they feel like) asking price for your Kwh's, go right ahead. Ill go with the "enviro Nazi" tactic and never have to see the fucking oil man at my door again, thank you very much. I just changed employment, now I build these, coupled with Daiken or Mitsubishi heat pump technology for heating and cooling, can be paired with electric hot water. (Battery back up optional but less common) Oh, wait a second, maybe we are approaching an end all . . . . . You can heat, shower, and power with one unit . . . This guy only had .4 acres to work with, now his electricity bill averages $8 a month, oil is non-existent (left as back-up, heat pump tech will only work down to 0 degrees, so he might see 3 oil heated days a year), and the system will pay itself off in 3 years. Suck on that, coal. http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l555/zegermanznew/IMAG0374-1.jpg Did I mention; It tracks the sun for up to 120% more efficiency than a static array, has storm and clean modes, can be controlled from anywhere in the world by your iPhone, and at the very same time collects data on your usage, its production, conditions etc (also viewable on smart phone). No brainer? Yes, America clearly has no brain, people are still against this. End rant of frustration, beer needed now. I want one How much $krilla is that Zerg? |

Shrimp is meant to be eaten creole
Relax on the solar dude its cool as long as I don't have to subsidize it Those panels look real inconspicuous l No stack billows smoke as you describe it, they all have so3 scrubbers and mercury abatement gear you shoulld do some research on your end pally And my system makes it even cleaner with the by product recycled to make sheet rock Even the smallest coal plant I've done generates 300 Mw an HOUR and it provides cheap power and employs 300 people let alone the out side contractors truckers etc. 6mw really ? The dump I took this morning generated 10mw. Sorry it went bad PJ better now then after years of grief sad for the kids keep an eye on em they will know when sOmethings wrong Off for some crawfish etoufe and maybe a gumbo later fellow redneck mothers! |

Come on, griping about subsidizing solar? What about airlines, oil, welfare, corporate tax breaks. Funding for solar is just about the only thing I don't complain about subsidizing, and thats only because it has the potential to drive energy costs down. . . .
Yea 6Mw, as an individual (one man) That is not over the course of an hour, that is every second the sun is up. . . . . Sure, small stacked next to the TerraWatt we use as a country, but large compared to what you will find from any other installer in the NE. Fairly sure no one man can put up a coal plant, certainly not while shitting. As I said, I don't have a gripe with coal. I can just about assure however, that for every job coal produces, solar can match, albeit inside or outside, manufacturing to trucking to installation/maintenance . . . . (if the interest were there) Never claimed the adjacent stack was a coal plant, not even sure if there is a plant in New Haven. I do appreciate what you do for your industry, Im just saying, don't go knocking a good thing just because it isn't yours. (or is a counter part) Dan, for the full get-up, solar tracker, heat, AC, water etc. Probably looking in the area of $100,000. Just the tracker, around $60,000. Static roof mount, maybe $40,000. Funding comes and goes, theres great programs around the country, like SREC, but currently nothing in CT thanks to Rell. She's actually the reason me and some 20 other CT installers lost their jobs last year. A lot of companies do leasing programs, locked in per watt rates etc. The industry is so fucked on a seesaw I can't really give you an accurate answer for the current time. Im not a salesman, I just build these things. ETA: Cav, sorry to hear about that 10Mw shit, that must have hurt like a mother fucker! And thats methane, not coal. |

Focus, stay focused Z. I was drunk bashing Arabic oil and back yard windmills and you plumb lost your mind son.
1,2,3,- arabudy now....We MISS You ANDREW!!!!!!!!! Lets get off the energy BS. Drill for it mine it invent solar it blow it. it all good. Anything that creates or keeps jobs in the US and keeps our cash from going to the Wahabbists in Saudi Arabia to fund haters of Democracy and women, I'm all for it. The private market should rule. Corporate subsidies of any kind should be ended. Ethanol oil etc. Look into the Indian oil industry its a mess, 70% subsidized for populist reasons and they had a blackout over 1/3 the country for a week or some such nonsense. Could happen here. Now, back to ME. This trip has a just realized perk. I will be here long enough to attend a massive GUN SHOW! 2 miles from my condo alright now! Next weekend, praise Jeezus! Not sure how purchases and transfers go, ( enter CTHTF resident council at large , JAD). I am on the hunt for prebans as a priority. I suppose a shotgun purchased ans shipped home would not be an issue. Maybe an inexpensive Grock can be had. Any and all input will be appreciated. I'm linking you up yo! http://capgunshows.com/?page_id=17 http://capgunshows.com/ http://www.mscoastcoliseum.com/calendar.html AAR will certainly follow. Items, prices of ammo etc. Just to see how much we get hosed when we make purchase. First person that asks me about jerky...Allah help him.... |

Just buy it. If you are flying home, you have to have it cased up in a TSA compliant case and locks. ($$ and not something you find in every walmart). Checking a firearm into luggage isn't a big deal as long as you follow procedures and have the right case/locks. Just cheaper probably to buy it, and do an FFL transfer back to CT for a single purchase though. I think buying from an individual is bad juju, but JAD or someone else can answer that. Not like anyone would know unless you transfered it back through an FFL though. |

Sorry Cav, Im a jerk, but I don't mean to be if that counts for anything. ![]() I haven't seen CTBuilder lay down the law in the DIY section in a little while. I guess you could say I miss him. No swet Z. Your not a jerk, just passionate. I get it.
Damn, I can't even send a shotty home UPS? I put a call out in the Gulf State HTF. Looking for a buddy down here. Check the link the show sponsor might be able to hook me up. Sardo has his guy in Seymour maybe he can FFL for me. I find a G3/G2 G19 for a decent price its going home. But I'm hoping to find a PB lower for a steal. Or 2.Or 3. If i find a few I will bring 'em home and hook a brutha up. I'm not the scalping type. Stay tuned. I don't have a ton of cash but I find some goodies it's Katie bar the door. Ammo would be just fine. RDS would be cool. A decent rail for my SBR build, you know cool stuff. |

Just read up on ATF regs dont think I can buy a handgun.
ETA: NO wait I can FFL to FFL. http://www.atf.gov/publications/download/i/atf-i-5300-23a.pdf |

While out of state Long guns can be purchased from an FFL and you can take possession of it (as long as you comply with purchase laws in that state and here in CT). You can then either ship the long gun to yourself or buy a locking TSA case and risk taking it on a plane, or unload it, lock it in your trunk, and drive home. Pistols can be purchased from an FFL but they must be shipped by the seller to an FFL in your home state, at which point the transfer of the firearm takes place and you may take possession of it. |

You only have to comply with the laws in the state that you are buying it, and transporting it home yourself. They don't check CT law. You can buy a 7.62x39 semi auto AK in another state, or a post-ban AR with ban features, etc, etc. Its up to you to comply with CT AWB before arriving back here though. But, as you are obviously flying rather than driving, this will have to go through an FFL to ship to CT if you don't have a TSA approved case and locks. To transfer that way, it would have to arrive CT compliant at the CT FFL. All of which, was pretty much covered in my first reply. |

Find some cheaply priced PreBaned lowers for us !!!!!! I am all about that you Cuban Cigar from the mid 70's! That is goal number one. Pete, I have wanted a GP100 since before you were born. I get one it's going to the grave with me. 2 more days and counting. WAit what day is it? been here so long im in my own space time continuum (sp?) show me the way to go home...im tired and I wanna go to bed...i had a little drink about an hour ago, and it went straight to my head. those eyes, black like coal... The fucking train runs so close to my condo here i can watch it go by, and my fucking bed shakes. the boss is gonna here about this... Cav, Like you, I am many many moons older than the GP100 Next time we have a shoot I'll bring mine, it's an '88 build with a well-worked trigger. Rumor has it Cav's many moons older than the invention of gunpowder itself... ![]() He personally talked John Moses Browning out of making a simple, polymer, striker fired pistol with a double stack magazine and a short, pre-cocked trigger with tactile reset. Better living thru alchemy. I wasted decades trying to change lead into gold...now I turn gold into lead, brass and gunpowder. Had some meh BBQ tonight at a place called the Shed looks like Fred Sanfords house. As seen on Dinners drive ins and dives with with hostdoosh Guy Fiero. I've had much better. The original Shed is kick ass. It burned down however. Franchise and expansion ruin brands. Just ask Krispy Kreme and Starbucks. I know my BBQ my good friend, I tour NC, Bama, Georgia, Mississippi etc for work on a regular basis. I have pit BBQ'd many 50-60 lb suckling pigs, chickens and brisket, I got more soul and funk in me than most black folk. Praise the Lord and pass the collection plate, AAAAAAMEN! ON a side note Storm Isaac is shortening my trip here. I'm being pulled out Sunday, supposed to stay till 28th, my work load to secure our gear has doubled on Saturday. We already have everything lashed down with 5000 lb steel cable, but I have to drain the chemical and pickle the pumps and shut down the transformers. So my ability to hit this gun show is in jeopardy. Hope to get a few hours in Saturday afternoon. Stay tuned. They take hurricanes very seriously down here. Katrina messed this place up. |
